<–Question of the Week: 2/28/16 Question of the Week: 3/13/16–>
The Question of the Week is posted every Sunday and will consist of a question followed by my answer and explanation to the same. Some questions will only require a simple answer that could potentially be followed by an explanation. Many questions will be writer oriented, but not all. Everyone is encouraged to answer in the comments and discussions/follow up questions are more than welcome!
What kind of scenes are your favorite to write?
Quick question this week because I’m really pushing myself in these next few weeks to finish The Broken Rose. I will definitely bring back more in depth questions once I’m finally done, but until then, these are going to be quick, though I would love more elaborate responses in the comments 🙂
I love writing fight and romance scenes (“Fucking and fighting it’s all the same”). They have a similar energy and verve. I always wait until I have a good amount of time to spend on any battle or sexy time scene so that I can stay in the mind frame of it the entire time, though I generally will end scenes on a “high” note of sorts with a question or something that needs to be immediately resolved once I get back to writing.
The current build up right now in TBR is to, well, I can’t say a “fight” scene; it’s more like a massacre. Afterwards (but not immediately) there is going to be sexy time scene, though immediately wouldn’t be far-fetched since battle tends to get one’s blood up for such an event.
What are your favorite scene to write and/or read?
I look forward to your answers in the comments!

My favorite scene is the most passionate ones, whether it’s the rallying cry before the final fight, the explosive culmination of a budding relationship, or the long awaited reunion : )

I’m a fan of the last as well especially in romance. I always seem to separate the characters in love then bring them back together at some climactic point. Yes! I didn’t think about that. I love reunion scenes 😊😉

You know, there’s a Final Fantasy pun in there….;D

For me I think it’s banter between characters, and bizarre character quirks. I think for the same reason as your fighting and fucking though, because of the energy involved. Writing characters feels like playing, I don’t feel like I have complete control as they start to write themselves.
(And I’m really sorry, somehow in trying to answer your comment on my microfiction blog, I deleted it, how?! The comment was much appreciated, 🙂 so please don’t take it as a slight.)

Oh lord I love dialogue, too. I can literally hear the back and forth in my head and can only hope I capture it well. I was just talking about how characters have a mind of their own. Currently, I need my one character to essentially massacre an entire town (for a valid reason), but currently he and the female character he’s in love with are too busy making out and being cute at breakfast. It’s like come on! I purposely created a playlist for this moment!
No worries! I have that paranoia myself. I saw you liked it and that’s good enough for me 😊

Sounds like a fantastic idea, is this for a book? Or are we going to see it on your blog soon?
I also hear characters in my head, I’m not that good at seeing what they look like in my mind (I can feel their expressions from the inside, but not see from the outside) but their voices are always clear.
And thanks for easing my paranoia. 🙂

The story will be posted on the blog! I’m hoping to finish this month and have it edited by May/June.
Always glad to easy paranoia 😊

Well, as for reading I enjoy those moments that create very detailed pictures in my head, maybe not a genre but those things that movies can’t offer…

Yes! Agreed when the words are almost painting a picture in your head. I live for those. GRRM is really good at that!
