Question of the Week: 6/12/16

<–Question of the Week: 6/5/16          Question of the Week: 6/19/16–>

The Question of the Week is posted every Sunday and will consist of a question followed by my answer and explanation to the same.  Some questions will only require a simple answer that could potentially be followed by an explanation.  Many questions will be writer oriented, but not all.  Everyone is encouraged to answer in the comments and discussions/follow up questions are more than welcome!

What country would you most like to visit/live in?

Simple answer for me: England.  We almost went a few years ago, but I knew we wouldn’t have enough money to do all the things we wanted.  I’m of the mind that you don’t go on vacation if you can’t afford to go on vacation.  While one doesn’t need to spend money like water, it doesn’t make sense to travel all the way over there and not be able to do anything, be resigned to dive bars (which, let’s be honest isn’t my cup of tea), and not experience the glory of the English countryside.

So we decided to bide our time.  One day I and my fellow anglophile friends will get there, but until then, I’ll continue to crush on my favorite English actors.

Tom Hiddleston

I drool.

Benedict Cumberbatch

I drool again.

If I had the opportunity I’d go to England in a heartbeat like if my job wanted to send me there for some reason.  Not even a question; I’d go.  Even if it were to London.  I’m not remotely a city girl, but that’s one place where I’d made an exception.

If you could live or visit any country in the world, what would it be?  Is it just an idealization or have you been to the place where you’d choose to live?

I look forward to your answers in the comments!

  2. Really difficult question! I planned to move to sweden, learned the language and all that. Then again my body needs warmth (oh well who knows what climate will change to in a few years anyways?) then I need big cities with goth clubbing possibilities as well as green country sides, so maybe Germany is the place for me to live in but I haven’t found the perfect city for me… And for visiting I have quite a long list of huge cities and mystic / abandoned places I would like to see once in a lifetime…

    Best of luck of one day getting a chance to spend some time in England! You’d also be a lot closer to me so we could meeeeet 😀

    • Yassss! It’s so funny to me as an American to think that whole other countries are just a stone’s throw away. I could drive for six hours and STILL be in the state of Pennsylvania, because it’s gigantic.

      My husband wants to visit Germany because he has family there (my married name is Figenbaum), and I definitely want to see Paris one day. Also goth clubbing in Germany sounds amazing. I’ve heard that London has a pretty nice goth scene, too.

      I used to be much more into it in my 20s, and Philadelphia had a pretty extensive scene that alas has gone by the wayside. I went out every Wednesday and Saturday at least, but I grew older and the premiere club first moved then closed. Sad times ;_;
