A weekly post updated every Tuesday detailing my current gaming projects. I have quite a backlog of games to either play or watch, and I’m hoping a weekly article will assist with my progress as my other accountable posts have done with reading and writing.
I have an account at Grouvee, which is a essentially Goodreads for gamers, so please feel free to friend me there!

Poor, neglected Dawn of Souls. I’ll return to you again soon now that the holidays are done. I have so much leveling and cash grinding to do that it’s a daunting task to return to, but I shall persevere!

And poor neglected Final Fantasy IV (though you’re a bit less destitute as I’ve already beaten you on both the PlayStation and the DS I’m playing you on now). I need to enter Troia, speak with the clerics, and go on my next quest. I may start this tonight.
Title: World of Final Fantasy
Series: Final Fantasy
Genre: RPG – Fantasy
Developer: Square Enix
Platform(s): PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita
Release Date: October 25, 2016
Date Bought: October 21, 2016
Date Started: November 5, 2016
I believe I’m in Chapter 18, but I can’t quite remember the number. I know it’s the late teens though. I’m currently organizing my Mirages (again) on Excel, which is quite a task.. I’m probably going to put it up on Google Docs once it’s to my satisfaction. I made the chart in order to better organize my stacks for particular elemental attacks and abilities that will either facilitate catching or defeating Mirages.
The rows go on for quite a bit longer to encompass all relevant abilities/elements.
Mirage Name | Size | Type | Transfigurations | Water | Fire | Ice | Thunder | Wind | Earth | Poison | Light | Dark |
Adamantoise | XL | Adamantoise | 3 | Temblor
Affrite | M | Ifrit | 7 | Fire Fira Blaze |
||||||||
Ahriman | L | Ahriman | 4 | Aerora
Baby Paleberry | S | Tonberry | Blizzard | Petty Grudge
Baby Tonberry | S | Tonberry
Babyhemoth | M | Behemoth | 5
Behemonster | XL | Behemoth | 5
Behemoth | L | Behemoth | 5 | |||||||||
BiggerJaws (Mega Nightsqual) | Watera Hydrotwister Whirlpool |
|||||||||||
BiggerJaws (Mega Sharqual) | L | Bismark | 5 | Water Watera Hydrotwister |
||||||||
Bihydra | M | Tiamat | Fire | Poison Bite |
It’s gotten tricky since I can now transfigure more Mirages into higher forms, and ideally, I’d like to have as many Mirages of a particular type as there are transfigurations (that’s what the number in the fourth column means), so I may be doing some hunting in prior regions where applicable. I also still need to grab a Zapt in the Nether Nebula’s secret region, which isn’t a bad place to level up either.
And there’s still an extensive after game when all 21 chapters are done 😉
Games Currently Watching
Title: Mass Effect II
Series: Mass Effect
Genre: Action RPG – Sci-Fi
Developer: BioWare
Original Platform(s): Xbox 360, Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3
Original Release Date: January 26, 2010
Let’s Player: Olizandri
Date Started: November 19, 2016
I think the intrepid let’s player is going to finish up some more loyalty missions. He consistently uses Garrus and Grunt, but still hasn’t “gained their loyalty.” I was really hoping Wrex would show up in this game, but so far, there’s been only word of him. I have seen Tali and Liara *spoiler* who’s now the new shadow broker. *end spoiler*
Title: Miracle Warriors: Seal of the Dark Lord
Genre: RPG
Developer: Kogado Software Products
Original Platform(s): Sega
Original Release Date: October 18, 1987
Let’s Player: Hungry Goriya
*patiently awaits the next upload*
Games Added to Playlist: 3
- VVVVVV – I have a new platformer on my backlog thanks to this review from Cheap Boss Attack. I’m never one to turn down such a game though, especially with a slight twist on the typical platformer dynamics.
- Letter Quest: Grimm’s Journey – A word puzzle game featuring adorable Grim Reapers? Sign me up! Another one reviewed by CBA and therefore added by me. Friends don’t let friends not add more games.
- Shantae: 1/2 Genie Hero – There are many stories with hybrids. In fact that paradigm is pervasive in all of my favorite things. So I was instantly intrigued by a half-genie heroine, since this is one hybrid I’d never heard of before. Another platformer to add to my collection. I wouldn’t have found it if not for The Otaku Judge’s review!

What are you currently playing and/or watching? Is it something new or old? Is it a first time run or a replay? What’s the genre? Would you recommend it? What’s on your radar to play next?

I’ve heard a lot of great things about the Shantae games and actually just picked up two of the older ones on PS4 during a sale two weeks ago (The Pirate’s Curse and Risky’s Revenge). Both look fantastic and if I enjoy them I’m sure I’ll pick up Half-Genie Hero at some point. Thanks for the reminder!
I’m glad to see you’re interested in VVVVVV and Letter Quest. Both are unique games within their respective genres, which says a lot when you consider how many 2D platformers and RPGs are available. Hopefully you enjoy them as much as I did whenever you get around to them.
I’m still piddling around chapter 13 of 21 in WoFF, but lately I’ve been playing a lot of Fire Emblem Awakening on 3DS. I left that, WoFF, and Persona 4 Golden unfinished last year and I’m trying to correct that before it gets to the point where I’ve forgotten everything and feel the need to start over. I just leveled Chrom and Robin to max and got Robin and Tharja married in my game. Chrom married Sumia and made a baby. I have my ideal pairs in mind, so I’ve been replaying maps trying to boost their respective affection ranks. Awakening is such an incredible game and I’m glad I’m finally going to finish it this time around.

I was just looking at Letter Quest on my Kindle. Looks like it’s $2.99 which isn’t terrible. So is VVVVVV. Small prices to pay for entertainment. I love Scrabble so I can see hours of enjoyment out of Letter Quest. Plus Grim Reapers and pizza? What else do I need?!
I was messing around prior to Chapter 18, organizing my Mirages because I like having a way to quickly see the best stacks to set up for a situation. Fire Emblem is one of those games I want to get into, too. I think I have it on my backlog. Seriously, not playing a game for a while is like not reading a book for a while. I’ve done both numerous times.

Sounds like you are almost done with World of Final Fantasy. Glad to hear that my review has persuaded you to give Shantae a go. Hope you like it. I own Letter Quest, but I haven’t gotten far in it. No surprise as I suck at Scrabble.

I have a few more chapters to do, but apparently there’s a lot of after game stuff you can do. I really like that, especially considering you pay like $60 for games so I’ll be getting my money’s worth.
Definitely! I can always play another platformer. I need to download Letter Quest. Looks like it’s $2.99 if I grab it on my Kindle. Hm, that’s not too terrible. I’m pretty good at Scrabble, but I don’t think I’d enter any contests :p

As a female gamer, I felt very empowered after my visit to Troia. 🙂 The Lodestone Cavern place was such a pain after that. I wanted to use my awesome metal equipment so badly!
The awesome Otaku Judge and Cheap Boss Attack have added many games to my wishlist! I forgive them though 🙂

I have to forgive them I suppose hehe. I can’t really be mad that people are introducing me to so many games. It’s not their fault I haven’t yet invented a time machine so I have enough to play said games.
Omg the Dark Elf is so annoying. He’s name is Astos in the first Final Fantasy, and I remember when I reviewed it I said something along the lines of “Of course he’s pissed. You’d be mad, too, if your name was ‘Astos!'”

Damn right I’d be mad if someone named me that!

I finally started World of Final Fantasy today, and I’m excited! Now I’ll understand more of what you post about for the game! This is coming off the heels of beating Final Fantasy XV, so I’m understandably in an FF mood. WoFF is just a very different take on the FF universe, but it still looks like it’ll be great.

Ahhhh yes! I love that game so hard. I spent about three days organizing my Mirages (again) on an Excel spreadsheet because I’m ridiculous. Really, I just like having a nice guide handy with what Mirage knows what and the best way to stack them 🙂 I think I might make this a Google doc hm.
FFXV is now on my list thanks to Cheap Boss Attack 🙂 I went from having no interest to being very interested. I’m hearing that Squeenix spent the ten years it was in development hell doing actual work, so I may have to take back some of the bad things I was saying about that. WOFF is a major homage to the universe even more than IX was. IX was more of its own Final Fantasy with all the references from the ones before, but arguably, they ALL are. WOFF has definite cameos from numerous characters, and is best described as Pokemon meets Final Fantasy. For some reason that put some people off, which I just don’t understand. I’ve never played Pokemon, but I really like that mechanic!

You would love Pokemon if you enjoy the Mirages from WoFF! It definitely gives me the Pokemon vibe!
