A weekly post updated every Tuesday detailing my current gaming projects. I have quite a backlog of games to either play or watch, and I’m hoping a weekly article will assist with my progress as my other accountable posts have done with reading and writing.
I have an account at Grouvee, which is a essentially Goodreads for gamers, so please feel free to friend me there!

Yeah, I’m still playing this even though I don’t think I logged any game hours this week, or did I? I can’t remember what I did last Wednesday. It doesn’t look like I did any of the things I was talking about in the last entry. Oh! I remember, I played Wii DDR and attempted to play FFV, which is when I discovered my controller was busted (I’m not throwing Widder on this list, because it’s just going to be me playing sporadically when my knees and lungs tell me I can. Silly, decrepit body…).
I think I might boot WOFF up tomorrow…or possibly tonight (if I get the time) since my husband went to hang out with our friends at a diner 30 or so minutes away. I…was supposed to go, too, but I came home and passed out for a few hours. So tired 😦 I’d sort of made a half-promise I was going to go out, and I’d planned to schedule this very post on Monday, but I had too many things to do yesterday to schedule it, so I’m writing it now.
Anyway, my plan is to possibly play a bit tomorrow and see if I can get the Quacho Queen trophy, the one where Lann has to deal the finishing blow. I’ll take one or two Magitek Armors with me to see if I can fulfill the “kill many enemies with Magitek Armor” trophy (how vague can you be?), and I believe there are still some murkrifts lurking around. I’m certain they’re in the dungeons, because I’m pretty sure I scoured the world map with the airship.
Oh, and the review of this is coming along, though this is technically not the post for that; there’s a bit of crossover with SOTW, since I’m writing about gaming, wouldn’t you say?
Title: Final Fantasy: Brave Exvius
Series: Final Fantasy
Genre: RPG – Fantasy
Developer: Square Enix
Platform(s): iOS, Android
Release Date: June 29, 2016
Date Purchased: March 21, 2017

I am obsessed with this game now. Holy lord. I think I’m starting to get the hang of it, and LightningEllen pointed out that NRG, is “energy.” How the hell did I miss that lol. Between this and WOFF, Squeenix is becoming the pun masters (hire me please! Notice me, senpai!!! I will write dialogue for the nonexistent, never happening DLC where Sephiroth meets his real mother. OMG PLEASE!!!) *ahem*
So far I haven’t had much problem playing as much as I want, but I’m only on Level 12 or Rank 12 or something like that. I’m still in the learning phase. I had no idea what the Rare Ticket Summons did or how to use them until a few days ago, so I now have 15 characters to toggle through including Cecil and Rydia from FFIV, Kuja from FFIX, and Sazh from FFXIII. I made some promises that if I happen to pull the legendary Lightning, I’ll be more than happy to trade her for the less than stellar Hope hehe, because I know if Sephiroth is somehow drawn, the same will be done for me. That would be the perfect trade actually lol.
I spent about 2-3 hours last night equipping everyone and doing a slapdash organization of parties. You can have five separate ones, which is pretty convenient. Story wise, I accidentally entered the pier in Lodin and was whisked to the next continent, but thankfully, you can still go back, and I have a bunch of missions to complete: two still from the royal capital, and I just picked up a ton from Lodin. The two capital ones have to do with defeating five sergeants and three hill gigas’. I found one sergeant in the Grandshelt Castle Throne Room, but apparently, I can traverse the entire castle and both enemies should be there. They apparently become less rare further along in the game, so if they’re not forthcoming, I might just move on. The one good thing about doing the same dungeon over and over again is you can level up your characters. I’m still not sure who I’m going to keep (since I’m not really sure under what parameters I should use to decide that) so for now I’m going to try to rotate them. Cecil, Rydia, Kuja, and Sazh are most definitely here to stay since they’re from specific games.
This is my first freemium game, and I absolutely love it. Not surprise it was a Squeenix JRPG. If you play or decide to play, my player number is 767,052,992.

Hoorah! I received the email notification that another video is up. This makes my night. I can’t wait to see more of the adorable, talking cat. How could you sell a sentient, talking kitty? D:
In researching this game, it seems that there are other ports for it outside the SMS. I might check those out, but this doesn’t dissuade me from wanting to try the original.
Title: Mass Effect III
Series: Mass Effect
Genre: Action RPG – Sci-Fi
Developer: BioWare
Original Platform(s): Xbox 360, Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3
Original Release Date: March 6, 2012
Let’s Player: Olizandri
Date Started: January 23, 2017
I watched two or three videos this week, and the Omega DLC has gotten interesting. I like the dynamic between Aria and Nyreen, and I really love that since Olizandri is playing a female Shepherd, it’s three women trying to take back what’s theirs (or Aria’s) from a man. Yassss.
Nyreen is the first female Turian ever seen/introduced, and she kind of has a General Grievous look about her.
Nyreen looks less sinister (though still bad ass), but it was the first thing I thought. Also, I didn’t think Turians had slit pupils, but if you look, Nyreen definitely does, but Garrus doesn’t (I double checked). Are slit pupils unique to female Turians? Is there an evolutionary advantage in that? Or is it an error on the game designers’ part, which I highly doubt since ME is very well done. If the females were the main hunters, and they did so at night, then it would make sense that evolution would select for having the genes for slit pupils on the X chromosomes (if Turians have similar genetics to humans in that regard), and it would have to require two X chromosomes (unless there are some male Turians that have slit pupils, too without an additional X chromosome so no XXY). Why am I thinking about this so hard?? Well considering I did enough research on cat’s eyes to write a dissertation, this is a drop in the bucket :p

Adventures in console buying (someone “console” me *runs away*).
At the mall last weekend, we found a PS3 at the GameStop; $150 with 500GB. I had my husband ask about it, because I’m incredibly shy and awkward asking for things in stores. Okay, I’m not that awkward, but I have to rehearse what I’m going to say before I say it so I don’t sound super awkward, or so I don’t think I sound super awkward. While hubby was doing that, I took a look at the figurine wall where the Funko Pops hold sway, but amongst them was a non-Funko Pop Spock that was too cute for words. The company is called Dorbz, which I’m assuming is short for aDorbz, a word I use all the time.
I initially thought it was Captain Picard, because of the round head, but I was not remotely disappointed by Spock. While I’m more of a TNG girl, I still fell in love in Leonard Nimoy (RIP), especially considering how he stood up for Nichelle Nichols and made sure she was paid fairly for her work. I also loved him in the newer movies and the older TOS ones, plus I enjoyed his cameos in TNG. He and Picard have a special bond since they mind melded.
Anyway, I handed Spock to my husband and went off to return some shoes, figuring he’d do the right thing in regards to the PS3. He did and bought it with a $20/two year warranty.
Yesterday, I came home from work and organized the PS2 and Wii games we have sitting by our bedroom door, since one or both of us keeps knocking it over. There’s a high bureau with the bedroom TV sitting on it, so I just put the games into one of the drawers. Brian (my husband, I’m sick of just saying “husband” or “hubby;” he does have a name lol) knocked a hole in the back of the bureau to thread the PS3 cords through.
I unboxed the system and immediately put on my snooty face. Don’t judge me! For some reason I thought it was going to be a new PS3, so I was prepared to see a new PS3; don’t ask me why. I have absolutely no problem when used games or anything like that. I’ve padded my collection with them, and I may very well be receiving a Wii U from a friend soon; the same one who gave me her Game Cube. It was more that it was unexpected, though I don’t know why I’d think I’d find a new PS3 anywhere. I think because the one on Amazon looks like it’s new, so I thought the one bought from GameStop would be as well? Who knows how my mind works.
We plugged everything in, flipped the TV to the right channel, and turned the system on, and this is where my snootiness was vindicated! The red light came on, showing the system had power, but when we hit the button again for the green light, it stayed on for maybe three seconds before turning off. We tested this numerous times with a game in and not, but the system just wouldn’t stay on. The Twitterverse (and I thank you all for that!) suggested that there was something wrong with the OS, which it very well could be. Either way, we packed everything back up as it was (I was kind of sad to lose the controller that was clearly used for Call of Duty with its camouflage markings), and Brian returned it today with no issue. He’s going to purchase the Amazon one, which is around $207 right now, but from all appearances it looks new. I think a warranty would be a good investment with it, too. I’ll keep you informed about the developments!
What are you currently playing and/or watching? Is it something new or old? Is it a first time run or a replay? What’s the genre? Would you recommend it? What’s on your radar to play next?

Aw, that’s too bad about the PS3! Hopefully your new one shows up soon and all goes well. 🙂
And it’s nice to know other people pre-plan their social interactions in public. lol I do that all the time and if I’m calling a place with questions I actually make a list of discussion points because I always dread being my awkward derpy self. lol
PS- I loved your side thoughts on Turian eyes. 😛

I’m just happy the return went smoothly! There’s always that worry with things like that. Sometimes clearance items aren’t returnable, but usually with games/consoles especially used ones from a chain story, so long as they don’t have that stipulation, it’s oaky.
Omg all the time! Unless I know exactly what I’m looking for, I never ask, and even sometimes if I do, I’ll hunt around for it myself. I’ll do that, too! When I’ve had to make doctor’s appointments, I’ll write out a script for what I’m going to say.
I may be researching this eye thing more :p

Oh no! I’m sorry to hear about your PS3 situation! I’m glad you were able to return it with no issue, and I hope your next one turns out to be better. Also, that’s a pretty cute pop figure! I like Spock. My wife’s totally a TNG girl though, so she gets ya, haha. I bet she would want a Picard one.
Also, awesome that you’re enjoying Brave Exvius! You got some great pulls from IV especially. I can see the Final Fantasy factor definitely helped for your enjoyment of the freemium game! And also, looking forward to your WOFF review! Though I can guess that you liked it. 😛 Except for the-Tama.
As for me, my wife and I are still playing through Snipperclips and I Am Setsuna, for reasons, that you now know, and also that you correctly guessed. 😉

I was informed that the new one will be arriving on Friday. I almost wish he’d waiting until today to buy it so it would get here on Saturday. I *may* work from home on that day if I can, because I don’t want them to just leave it at the door!
I would love a Picard one! They didn’t have any though, and I don’t think they made them (at least not per the google), but I have a Picard Funko Pop and another more realistic figurine so I can’t complain too much.
BE is soooo good. It really feels like a Final Fantasy even though you’re using a mobile interface. I did luck out with pulling my favorite character. I’d love to get some more rare pulls, but the mission to get them is ridiculously hard, and I don’t have any characters that can survive it. The only reason I’ve gotten as far with it as I have is because one of my friends has a very leveled character that I’ve been spamming lol
I think I’m supposed to work on my WOFF review tonight :O I’m a bit tired though so I might have to put it off. Oh the-Tama *shakes head* When chibi goes wrong lol.
I have your videos on my to-do list to watch! I Am Setsuna looks beautiful, though I might pass on watching that until after I play it. I’ve heard it’s really good, but kind of short.

I look the-forward to the-it! The-sorry. Ha-the-ha.
Thanks! And I hope you enjoy the videos! 😀 I definitely recommend playing through Setsuna. We’re enjoying is so far. I think it’s pretty short, but not super short. It’s at least Chrono Trigger sized. But yea, I recommend playing it. And then you can enjoy our playthrough too! 😉

Oh! I thought it was really, really short. Chrono Trigger is a typically length RPG I’d say. I think I logged 40 or so hours into it, maybe? I don’t think it has as many side quests as Final Fantasy, which may be why people think of it as shorter. So many JRPG, so little the-time *runs away*

I spent about 20 hours on CT. I would say that if you tried to get everything in Setsuna, it could last about 30 hours, but just playing through the story seems to be about 20 hours max. I’m not done yet, but I think I’m nearing the end and I’m at about 15 hours or so? There don’t seen to be ANY sidequests, so that’s a good reason for its shorter length. Still, 20 hours without sidequests isn’t bad, I’d say.

I never even realized how short CT was! I guess it was significantly more so than your typical Final Fantasy, but I was so absorbed in the game that I just didn’t notice. 20-30 hours is still a nice length for a JRPG, and if you cut out side quests that pretty much how long they would be anyway. I think people cite 40-50 hours as the average time to finish the single digit Final Fantasies with most side quests.

I literally just occurred to me that’s what NRG meant when we were talking, lol. Once my plan to become a famous multi billionaire comes together, I will totally buy out Squeenix and hire you to do that awesome DLC idea (right after FFXIII-4 is done though)
You got Sazh? I’ll trade you Hope for him! Come on! The little guy isn’t that annoying… My top 3 FFXIII characters are actually: Lightning (surprise!) > Snow > Sazh 🙂 If anyone gets the legendary Lightning, go buy a lottery ticket because luck is on your side, haha. Of course if I ever summoned the Great General, he’s all yours.
I’m constantly over planning every social interaction. If something catches me by surprise, I turn into an awkward mess, haha.

I wonder if the letters are supposed to stand for anything else lol.
Do you really want him? I’ll trade you Hope for Sazh. I don’t really mind since I have my favorite main (Cecil). Let me know and we can initiate the trade!
I absolutely hate surprise/surprise parties, because I need to know how to act/react at all times. No surprises!

Yay! The first step is to harass the developers enough so that they add trading as a feature 🙂
Exactly! Surprises are horrible.

I wonder if there’s a way to do suggestions, hm. Though Squeenix is notoriously terrible at listening to or caring about that lol.
Ugh, surprises are the WORST. I need to know how to react at all times, so I detest them.

Ugh, bummer about the PS3! At least you were able to take it back. That Spock is so cute though! I’ll have to buy that if I ever see it. 😉 And I totally rehearse what I’m going to say before I say it, haha! I definitely do it before I have to use the phone… I hate making phone calls!

I was able to get a PS3 from Amazon! It was a little more expensive, but at least it works. Well, the system turns on. I haven’t tried putting a game in it yet, but I’m assuming that will be okay.
Omg right? I’m going to try to find one for my friend’s birthday. She loves TOS.
I abhor making phone calls. I rarely if ever answer the phone, definitely not if I don’t know who’s calling. I’m just much better at communicating through writing/text/messenger. I actually have to remember the steps to make a phone call on my phone at this point lol. That’s how often I do it :p

Yay at least you were able to get a PS3! Hopefully everything is fine with this one.
Haha I know what you mean about the phone! Whenever I see an unknown caller on my phone, I automatically let it go to voice mail. Even if it’s someone I do know, sometimes I don’t like answering it lol!! At work when the phone rings, I like to pretend I don’t hear it! 😉

I know! Now I haven’t done much with it, because I limited myself to just two games at a time and they’re both on my Kindle. I did set up everything though and I’ll probably put Netflix and other things on it. You can play PS games on it, so that’s probably how I’ll play FFV when I finally get to it.

Nice! That’s a great idea. I try to limit the games I play too, but I just get distracted so easily lol!!
