A weekly post updated every Tuesday detailing my current gaming projects. I have quite a backlog of games to either play or watch, and I’m hoping a weekly article will assist with my progress as my other accountable posts have done with reading and writing.
I have an account at Grouvee, which is a essentially Goodreads for gamers, so please feel free to friend me there!

Title: Final Fantasy: Brave Exvius
Series: Final Fantasy
Genre: RPG – Fantasy

Well it’s happened. I’ve spent money on a freemium game. $30 to be exact. I dropped $20 about a week ago because I wanted to have enough lapis to make several summons in the hopes of getting Setzer. I did not succeed, but I do now have Terra (actually drew her twice). Then I had to spend $10 because I was completely out of lapis. Pretty much lapis is the real currency of the game. You earn it through completing quests (which cost NRG), and you can earn additional per quest by fulfilling certain variable requirements. It’s also used to purchase more things than even gil, which can be obtained by spending lapis. I only had 75 of the latter and I was out of material space. In order to increase your slots, you need (you guessed it!) lapis, so I bought $10 worth. So you can spend legitimate money in order to obtain lapis, which is in game money, which can also be used to acquire gil, which is typical Final Fantasy currency. If I wasn’t so tired, I could think of an overarching term for what this is called, but the Narcissist had to take a nap when she got home from work, and that always throws me off a bit.
I’m currently trying to pick up espers I missed with the help of my good friend LightningEllen, and I’m a little embarrassed I missed Ifrit whom I was on the way to get, but I think I decided to leave the continent he was on and promptly forgot to go back lol. I would not have discovered the location of Golem without help, and I’m not quite to where Shiva is located yet. I would’ve gotten Golem last night, but I ran out of NRG, which is another consumable the game makes you expend in order to do any quests. Once again Squeenix has me in its grip.

Haven’t had a chance to play this this week, but it’s now on my day planner instead of FFV (I know, I know). I figure this counts for my two game limit, so I might as well treat it as such. I’m hoping to finish at least Chapter 2 before next week.

- Okami – Per a review by Nintendo Bound, I added this unfortunately underappreciated game that seems to have been wholly missed by the mainstream. I considered putting it on my play list, but though the story sounds gorgeous, it seems more like an action RPG, though it still might find its way onto my backlog. If I can find a Let’s Play, I’ll watch just to see how the battle mechanics work, and if I think I can handle them, I’ll play it myself.

Miscellaneous
So this Friday is my birthday.
Yasssss, damn right pallas cat! I’m going to be 37. I took off work because I can, and I’m hopefully driving down to West Chester to talk to my tattoo artist about my next inking.
Anyway my husband received a large Amazon box on Monday, and since I was working from home that day, I answered the door, put it on the couch, figured it was for me, and forgot about it. When he came home, he confirmed my suspicion and asked if I wanted to open it. I’d also received a birthday card in the mail from my father with a $50 check in it (I need to call him to thank him btw), so I figured what the hell, I’ll open the box.
The game Eldritch Horror and a webcam. A while ago I listened a podcast run by Cheap Boss Attack and his friend Chuck Zodl at Counter Attack Games (the first one I had the pleasure of experiencing), and CBA started talking about the fore mentioned game (I can’t remember what specific podcast it was, so the link just goes to the list). I looked it up on Amazon, and it looked like something that would be fun plus I have an IRL friend who is into games of all shapes and measure who would probably be on board to play this with me. Once I look it over, I’ll give him a buzz (as in message on Facebook. The Shameful Narcissist avoids calling people at all costs) and make some plans to play. Huh, I just looked at the box a bit closer and it says “1 to 8 players,” so I could play this by myself? Haha, nooooo, I’m not doing that. No slithering down into the bowels of insanity for THIS Narcissist.
As for the webcam, my next step is to research adequate lighting and set that up, but this is just one of the many pieces involved in the blog update I’m planning to do in June. Hm, I should probably start prepping better for that. I’m woefully under prepared.
What are you currently playing and/or watching? Is it something new or old? Is it a first time run or a replay? What’s the genre? Would you recommend it? What’s on your radar to play next?

I hope to start discussing board games / comics on a more regular basis again on the show soon.
It’s been awhile since I’ve had a group to play Eldritch but I hope that you enjoy it and I’m interested to hear what you think, as for me and my small group the game was very difficult. We never came close to winning the few times we’ve played. There are many expansions for it as well that add more cards and characters which helps with the repetitiveness.

I need to catch up on all your podcasts! I have a bunch sitting in my inbox just waiting for me to have the time. I usually listen at work, but I’ve actually had to concentrate there lately, so I’d pause a lot in between.
I saw the numerous expansions! I have a friend who is obsessed with board games of all types so when you were talking about it, I knew if I bought it, I’d definitely have someone to play with. I also didn’t realize you could play it by yourself o.O
I will definitely let you know what I think of it, and thanks again for the recommendation (though obviously you didn’t know you were giving me one lol).

Happy future Birthday!! (I may forget by Friday, this week has been chaotic.) I SHOULD have taken my bday off of work but I was dumb and didn’t.
My husband is ALMOST done with Horizon and then I can finally take a stab at it. He keeps slapping a headset on me while I’m reading or blogging so that I can’t hear how it ends lol.

I just asked off a week or so ago hehe. I figured since it’s on a Friday, I might as well have a three day weekend. I can finally drive to West Chester (about 30 minutes away) to talk to my tattoo artist, and since one of my IRL BFFs is coming with me, I can’t make any excuses not to go!
Tell him to hurry up :p I’m glad mine generally puts on his headphones when he plays Andromeda since I don’t want to know ANYTHING about the game. I mean I can see things, but since I can’t hear the dialogue and the written text is so tiny, I really still have no clue what’s going on with the story.

He beat it last night so my turn is coming! Just as soon as one night after work DOES not involve doing something to get this house lol.

I feel Phantasy Star is like most 8-bit JRPGs in that it was a good game for its time, but it’s since been surpassed by its sequels (IV mostly).
Hope you have fun on your birthday!

Oh definitely, but for it’s time it was excellent especially in the graphic area! I grew up playing Nintendo, and I was definitely entrenched on their side in the console wars hehe, but in terms of graphics, the SMS was better than the Nintendo. I have to admit it! The Big N had more games and more variety, which is why they won the console wars, but now that I’m older, I can see that Sega was nothing to sneeze at!
Thanks!

Woo! Happy (early) Birthdayyy!! 😀 Cake and wine! Cake and wine! lol
Can’t wait to hear what you think of Eldritch Horror when you play it. It’s been on my radar for a while now, but I haven’t gotten to play it yet.

Thank you thank you! Yasss I’m excited for cake and I’m pretty sure I still have sangria in the fridge, but I may have to get some moscato :p
You can play it by yourself! But I don’t think I’m going to. I’m WAY too much of a wuss puss. I might look at the instructions, but that’s going to be it.

Happy early birthday! I’ll be 36 in August and I’m hoping to FINALLY get the NES Jason Voorhees tattoo I’ve wanted for years now. Fingers crossed.
Chuck was definitely the one who talked about Eldritch Horror since he’s the tabletop gaming guy, haha. Seems fun, though.
I just finished the first route in the otome Hakuoki: Kyoto Winds and I’m working my way through the visual novel Root Letter as we speak. I didn’t want to do back-to-back VNs, but I needed to get this sent back to GameFly. Both are pretty good.

You should definitely do it! I hope you get to. The tattoo after this next one is going to be a doozy AND expensive hehe. I kind of want a lip piercing, but while my job is pretty lenient, I’m still not sure if that would be okay. They’re cool with silver hair, especially considering mine isn’t even the most outlandish color. My friend just did her hair in rainbows. I’m so happy places are becoming less stick up the butt about things like that and tattoos.
For some reason I thought you were the board game enthusiast! It’s been a while since I listened to that podcast, and I have like four of them sitting in my inn box hehe. I usually listen to them at work, but I’ve actually been busy enough where I need to concentrate/think so I’d be pausing a hell of a lot. We pretty much have three people in the office right now and we’re responsible for billions of dollars in investments/401k stuff. It’s not like I have to do any investments. It’s more just checking things on a daily basis to make sure we’re not overpaying/underpaying anyone. Lots of spreadsheets!
I have never played an otome game, but I now have a few on my list. They’re not as prevalent on Grouvee so I have to keep track of them myself. I keep forgetting GameFly exists…I also keep forgetting that I have two Netflix disks that I need to watch. Oops.

I’ve been littered with piercings for the last 15 years and have yet to get hired on at a place that made me take them out (decent $55k per year jobs, no less). I’ve been lucky in that regard.
GameFly isn’t a bad deal if you can muscle through games quickly, since you lose a lot of time sending games back and waiting on the next one. I pay $22 per month for 2 games at a time, and I’ve had great luck getting new releases. They also have a great PS4 and Vita collection with some odds and ends that are difficult to find physical copies of.
Otomes/VNs are great pre-sleep rituals for me. It’s like reading a good book, so I either get sucked in for hours or 30 minutes in I can barely keep my eyes open lol. Some folks think its weird that a heterosexual male can enjoy an otome, since it’s a female character romancing a bunch of dudes, but I’m just a sucker for good characters and neat stories. *shrug*

I’m so freaking happy that our generation is taking over more in these areas, because we’re more prone to not caring about shit like that. My tattoos and piercings doesn’t stop me from being able to do my job, and so many more people have them they’re pretty much mainstream. My job used to have it on paper that you couldn’t, but I worked with a guy with gauged ears. They didn’t stop him from doing his job, and “image” is really what people make of it.
Hm, I don’t play games quickly, and since most of the games I play are looooong, I don’t mind spending some money on them. Plus since my backlog is so extensive and I own a great deal of them, I don’t think I have to worry about running out of things to play.
Psh whatever. A good story is a good story! That’s another thing I can say as a credit to our generation. Most of us don’t care about the sexuality thing or “boys do this/girls do that” nonsense. Like my husband was the one really excited to see Beauty and the Beast, I was more hyped for Logan (Sir Patrick FTW!). I love a good book, too, and there was this one otome where the guy was, er, quite pretty so I know who I’d be going after :p
I usually play Brave Exvius before bed…once I run out of NRG *skips away gleefully*

My ears are gauged big enough to stick your thumb through them and they’ve been that way for over 10 years. I think working in an office away from the public eye has a lot to do with piercing/tattoo acceptance.

Yup. That’s how my office is, too! Even though it’s an investment bank we mostly work behind the scenes. If a client comes in, they ask us to do the business casual thing, otherwise it’s jeans and whatever. I love my job. People leave me the hell alone and it’s great.

Double summons are so annoying in BE, espcially when you are looking to get someone specific. By the way, I have three Snows… THREE! *sighs* The Espers are so easy to miss! I’m glad my ramblings have helped you 🙂
Happy Birthday in advance, again! Good luck with your new ink. Yes, tattoos… I’m off Friday too. *resists urge to freak out* 😀

I think I’ve drawn Ludmile at least three times and Terra twice. Ugh. I was also have MAJOR issues with the game crashing while I was fighting Golem. Afterwards I went to Support and they suggested shutting the whole device off. That seems to have worked…for now. I’ve been hearing a lot of people complain about the crashing though. I was hoping they’d fix it in the next update, and there’s supposed to be one this Wednesday. I’m not sure when since it’s Pacific Time (which I think is later than our time. I think we’re in the same time zone o.O)
Ahhhh that’s right, your appointment is this Friday 😀 I’m just going in for a consult, and I should call to make sure he’ll be there, though he usually is. I HATE calling people, but since it’s a “business” call and I know what I have to say, it shouldn’t be too hard…maybe.

FYI, I read that your game data is saved on your device ONLY, unless you sync your game with Farcebook. Since I’m paranoid about technology failing, I thought I’d pass that along. If your device gets reset or damaged beyond repair, you will lose everything! And that would REALLY suck 😦
OMG I am feeling so many different emotions right now, lol. I feel like one big mess of nerves. I’ll be so glad once this is over, and I really hope it goes well, haha. I’m with you on the evil telephone thing! I had to call and confirm my appointment today, and I spent way too long thinking about what I was going to say. Why can’t all businesses have text messaging? I hope your consultation goes great though 🙂

Omg thank you for telling me this o.O I didn’t even think about it. I’ll back it up tonight when I log into play. I’m not anticipating anything happening to my Kindle, but you never know. Granted if I DID have to start over, I’d have more knowledge of the game so I might do a bit better.
I had to keep repeating to myself what I wanted to say. All I had to do was ask if the tattoo artist was going to be in, but I’m so…freaking…awkward on the phone (or at least I feel like I am). I’m meeting a friend there so there’s no way I can get out of doing it, though I picked such the wrong time to go d’oh! It’s right around rush hour, but hopefully the traffic won’t be too bad since it’s Friday. I fully support all business having text options or online ordering. That is the best invention.
I hope you find a good distraction. 1:00 is a good time for the appointment. I know the place I’m going doesn’t open until 1:00. I think if you had one at the end of the day, you’d be a basket case hehe.

I work with cell phones/tablets all the time and I don’t trust them one bit, haha. I’m pretty sure if you uninstalled the app you would lose your data too. You would at least be experienced if you had to start over. If I lost all my progress I just couldn’t do it. I’d be done with the game after all that time I spent on it, wasted.
Oh I’m incredibly awkward on the evil phone machine too. I hope you beat the traffic! I know in my city, Friday is usually a slower traffic day, especially when the weather is nice.
I’ll likely pick up a controller or waste time on the internet until my appointment. I’m already a basket case most of the time, I’d just be more of one if it was this evening, haha. 🙂

I am definitely going to take your advice. I was trying to figure out how to do it last night, but all I could find was how to send invites through social media. I’ll google it tonight and make sure I take care of it. I’m now so paranoid :p You’re farther along than I am, so I don’t blame you.
We went earlier around 3 before rush hour hit, so I was happy about that. It’s actually the town I went to college in. IT looks so different now, and they have parking meters that take credit cards o.O Technology is amazing.

On the title screen there is a button that says “connect to Farcebook”. That’s what I used. I hope you find out how to back up that precious game data.
It’s crazy how fast cities evolve! There is so much construction going on in my city now. I will barely recognize most areas soon. They have parking meters that accept credit cards now?? What an age we live in!

Ah I got you! I went into the game and looked up the sharing thing. I’ll investigate, because I’m VERY paranoid about devices crashing, breaking, or getting lost.
I lived in West Chester for 11 years, and have been out for seven and it’s just amazing. The university is so different, too o.O

That would be a wise investment. After twenty hours played Persona 5 is shaping up to be my game of the year. A must own for any JRPG fan.
