<–The State of the Writer: 6/4/17 The State of the Writer: 6/18/17–>
A weekly post updated every Sunday discussing my current writing projects and where I stand with them. This will include any and all work(s) in progress (WIP) be they creative writing, essays/analyses, or reviews of any type.
Project: Story
Title: The Broken Rose
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Type: Fanfiction (FFVII) Novel
Current Word Count: 267,565
Prior Word Count: 267,343
Word Difference: +222
Status: Editing
Progress: 2nd edit of Chapter 10
I finally finished the first edit and put in the additional notes for the most part. I have a few more that I couldn’t figure out, and I’m hoping they’ll fall into place while I’m doing my second edit. I’m also hoping I’ll figure out the chapter picture, though I’ve been going back to one I said I wasn’t going to use more and more. I not only want it to match the chapter’s contents, but also the chapter title. I know intuitively the chapter contents and chapter picture should match and therefore so should the title, but sometimes the title doesn’t look good over the picture.
I’ve been itching to start the second edit, and I’m hoping I get to it tonight. With all the changes I did, though, I’m not foolish enough to think it’s the final edit.

Project: Book Reviews
Title: Various
Status: Planning
When I woke up, I had six book reviews on my backlog. Then I finished two more books and added those to the count. I just posted two so I’m back down to six again. I review books in the order I finish them so the books I finished today are the last in queue to be reviewed
What are you currently working on? Is it a creative writing project, essay, review, or something else? Have you just started something new or are you wrapping up a long term project?

I need to start that Yooka-Laylee review and I think I am going to do one for Prey and maybe Monument Valley 2 as well. I also have half a piece on extremism and Far Cry 5 that pulls from a comment I made on Falcon Game Reviews blog post on FC5.

I’d love to read those, especially the Far Cry 5 thing. I commented there myself. I’m all for bringing up controversial issues in all forms of media, but it seems like they really botched it there.

Yay! 2nd edit is that much closer to being finished 😀 I still remember that evil cliff hanger you left us with… Good luck with all those book reviews too. You are amassing quite a backlog.
I’m working on my review post of FF BE. It looks I’ll need to write one for HZD soon (I played it for like 10 hours today and I’m 88% done 🙂 )

It was evil mwa ha ha ha. Where did they go? What happened? Only time will tell :p
I just keep finishing books o.O Saga is really easy to get through and I’ve been reading my Kindle stories at night before bed now, too. I’m really hooked on the Half of King one I’m reading now. I was almost going to declare it DNF, but then it picked up considerably and things got so crazy and interesting.
I haven’t played FFBE in a few days. This month has been a lot busier than I was expecting it to be. I’ll play a bit at night, but I’m not strict with it anymore. When I first started, I couldn’t WAIT to play.

Thank you! I just thought it up recently. As much as the state of affairs is terrible, it does inspire things like that.

When do you find the time to do all this? My goodness, you are busy!!

I’m a timelord :p Nah, I schedule out when I’m going to read certain books! I’ve been reading more than usual lately. I was just doing five: three physical and two Kindle books I mostly read on my lunch break, but then I discovered the library and started reading graphic novels, which you can honestly breeze through!

Schedule? What’s that?
I’m impressed. Really. When I know I need or want to do something, a lot of times I imagine I’m doing it and it’s just like I am.

Day planner. I’m honestly a total mess without a day planner. I have no idea what I’m supposed to do. Thank goodness for modern technology. Between that and my OneNote app I can pretend I have a modicum of control/organization.

Here’s how good I am with organizational tools:
-start a calendar
-start a second calendar for a different type of stuff
-start a third, a fourth, etc., each with its own purpose
-let it all sit on my desk and gather dust
You are doing an amazing job, and I envy your stick-to-it-ness. I have none.

“You do not prove how strong you are by harming the weak and helpless.” Such a great quote you have there. If only more people felt like that. 🙂

I was just talking about this with another blogger! Yeah…as much as the state of affairs kind of sucks, it does inspire things such as that 😉
