A weekly post updated every other Tuesday detailing my current gaming projects. I have an account at Grouvee, which is a site you can use to keep track of your backlog, so please feel free to friend me there!
What I Played
Title: Octopath Traveler
System: Nintendo Switch
I’ve managed to snag the Starseer and Sorcerer jobs, and I’m preparing to go after the Warbringer by grinding in the Forest of Purgation. I debated challenging the dire wolf there again, but the walkthrough I have for that suggests using Warbringer skills so I’m at least going to wait until I defeat Winnehild, which was the first I attempted to my rue. I think I’m better prepared now, but I haven’t had a chance to hop on the sticks in about a week. I’m hoping to give it a try tonight.
Once I have the Warbringer job, I should be able to take down that wolf like I said, which will finish up one quest. I have quite a few I’m kind of lost on like King Khalim’s. I thought he needed an actor, so I brought him one, but nope. I had to resort to looking up where the hell to take Arianna for hers in Northreach. She said she wanted to go “someplace warm,” which to me is the Sunlands, but there was nowhere and no one there for her to interact with. You really need to go through all the towns and talk to people multiple times, because the quests constantly change. I’d honestly recommend keeping a spreadsheet like HG did with Ultima IV 🙂
What I Demoed
- Word Puzzles – The demo didn’t let you try that much, but what I did try whet my appetite for more. It’s just a simple, little title with a bunch of unique word games.
- Dark Witch Music Episode: Rudymical – I enjoy rhythm games and I liked how you could ramp up the difficulty by adding just one extra move. It’was cute and I could see myself playing it for a while.
What I Watched
Title: Silent Hill
Let’s Player: CJUGames
It wasn’t nearly as scary as I feared; creepy is more the word I’d use. The graphics made me think of the Shinra Mansion in FFVII, and since the original SH came out only two years after that, it’s not that surprising. The whole situation wasn’t too far from FFVII. Everyone wants a fucking god baby lol.
Title: Silent Hill 2
Let’s Player: CJUGames
If you could’ve heard me ranting about this game, omg. I liked the story, but I’ve never seen a more egregious example of people either completely oblivious or uncaring to the banana pants clown shit going on around them. James kills a monster table that Angela was calling “Daddy” in a room with flesh wallpaper and hydraulic pumps, and NO ONE IS TALKING ABOUT IT. I have an idea about what’s going on, but even James doesn’t seem all that phased about the nonsense he’s walked into. I’m not sure how I’m going to review them, but I did snag a link to some background information here, which I’ll go through once I finish them all.
What I’m Watching
Title: Silent Hill 3
Let’s Player: CJUGames
Heather is the only Silent Hill character to act in a sensible way to the bullshit going on around her. I like her for that alone. I’m pretty sure I know who she is in the scheme of the story, and now I’m curious where 2 fits into the pile, since 3 is clearly connected to 1. I’m about halfway through. There’s a fourth one, too, I think.
This is my last SOTG post until December to give myself more time to work on NaNoWriMo. I suspended a lot of stuff actually, and I have to remember to take them off my to-do list so I’m not freaking out about how little I’m getting done.
Until then let me know how your Halloweens were. Did you give out candy? What’s your favorite Halloween treat (I need to find these white chocolate Reese’s Peanut Buttercup eggs, but they might be for Christmas)? Pumpkin or apple spice (I’m apple all the way, especially since apple cider exists as an alcoholic drink)?

I know that people love Silent Hill 2 and I do too but 3 is my favorite of the PS2 era of games. I think the original Silent Hill is still my favorite but mostly because it has moments that actually scared me when I played it at release so many years ago.

So far I think I have to agree with you. I like Heather as a protagonist, and SH3 picks up from where SH1 leaves off, so that’s interesting.

I really need to get back to Octopath Traveler :(. I got distracted with my fancy new PS4 Pro and I haven’t touched my Switch since September. That’ll change when Pokemon releases though. I’m glad you’re enjoying Silent Hill. They’re classics. They’re not “scary” , but they are super creepy and have amazing atmosphere.
I planned this Halloween and did a huge project over on my blog. I outlined what I’m releasing today on Twitter, but the short version is every hour I’m releasing a Halloween related post. 5 game reviews, a review of Haunting of Hill House, my top 10 horror games of all time, and my top 10 horror movies of all time.

I haven’t played Octopath in about a week and I really want to finish up the special shrines and do the “true” ending.
I’m loving Silent Hill. I’m on the third right now. I think there’s a fourth? I can’t wait to write about the second because that’s going to be a rant and a half. Not that it’s bad. It’s just the way the characters react to everything is bonkers.
I’m looking forward to reading those! I’m so damn behind with my subs, but I’ll get to them 🙂
