What I Finished

Title: Piczle Colors

I honestly don’t remember thereabouts when I finished this game, since I’m still playing it, but I did complete all 300 puzzles.  I’m hoping they release more in a DLC.  Until then I do random ones of the 300, and you can also do random colors, which can be hella hard.  I’ll probably do a review of this after I finish Oxenfree’s since this will be a breeze compared to that.

This game will probably show up in my What I Played section quite often, since it’s a great nightcap or distraction for insomnia.

Title: The Adventures of Lolo

I know this was in my What I Played section as just a one off, but since I finished it, I figure it counts towards my 2019 list (even though it’s a replay).  I’m actually pretty proud of myself.  I only had to look up one puzzle, and that’s because I mistook it for another puzzle in another game that I knew I didn’t have the maneuvering ability to complete.  Though I did manage to do a puzzle that required quite a lot of that skill.  Regardless, I finished this classic puzzler on the Switch’s retro system, and I really hope they release 2 and 3 soon.

What I Played

• Tetris 99 – I have to tell you…I’m pretty disappointed in this game.  I was just looking for regular Tetris, not Tetris battle.  Even if I do eventually figure out how to do that, I’d like the option to just play a single game of Tetris.  I hate being forced to play with others *grumble*

What I Watched

I decided today I wasn’t going to watch the last two videos, which take place after the end.  There are some bosses you can face only then, and that’s what Oliz does.  I can see why this game wasn’t as favorably received, and not just because of the cliffhanger ending with no release date for a resolution.  The story wasn’t as cohesive as the first two, and Olizandri spent a lot of time wandering aimlessly, because the plot didn’t really tell you where to go next.  The first two might have had lulls in the action where you could do side-quests or level, but this one seemed much more scattered.  It also seems like they tried to do the same thing with this as they did with the first two in having it be half a story, but there’s no word when the next will or even if it’s going to come out.  There are a lot of loose ends.

Title: The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask

This is one of my favorite games let alone Zelda game.  Described as the “oddest, saddest, and darkest” of the series, it certainly lives up to those expectations.  I added a whole bunch of theory videos for this after I finished it, and I’m wondering if the picture I have on my wall of Link vs. Sephiroth surrounded by fire was inspired by this game.  What the hell is TSN talking about?  Well when you first meet the Happy Mask Salesman, he says to Link, “You’ve met with a terrible fate, haven’t you?”  You will hear this line again if you fail to save the world in three days and/or don’t play your ocarina in time to wind things back.  The moon hits Clock Town and a wall of fire throws Link backwards before we see him surrounded and engulfed by it.  The words “terrible fate” are featured in “One Winged Angel,” at least the Advent version (mmm technically the original, Carmina Burana based version, too, but I digress).  “Fatum terrible,” which is used to describe what happened to Sephiroth who then becomes a terrible fate for the world.  So if my inspiration for the painting is correct (and I’m not saying my insane ramblings are), it would be a pretty clever duel metaphor about meeting with a “terrible fate.”  #ithinktoomuch (but it’s possible the artist thought too much, too)

I want to write an analysis of Majora’s Mask, but if I do it’s going to be a long way down the line.  It would be pretty fun to do an FFVII comparative, especially since the way some characters treat the moon falling is akin to how some people in the real world look at climate change.  It’s blatantly fucking there, but they choose to ignore it as an inconvenience to work against.  I’d also like to talk about more moon symbolisms with Link, Ganon, and Zelda as triple aspects of the Triforce, which is very common in lunar tropes (the triple aspect that is) and is something I’ve talked about in regards to not only FFVII but the Final Fantasy series as a whole.

What I’m Watching

The great Zelda re-watch continues with another one of my loves.  Midna is my favorite Zelda character and BEST princess (fight me),   I love her true form, but I still adore imp Midna’s sass.  She’s less of a companion and more of a deuteragonist, which is interesting for a Zelda game.  Link will have a companion that will speak for him insofar as telling us (the player/watcher) what he’s saying, but Midna has her own agenda, and she has no problem using Link to help her fulfill it.

I’ve been sick the past two days as in calling out of work sick.  My entire body hurts.  It feels like I got my ass kicked by an angry robot.  I co-hosted a bridal shower on Saturday, and it’s taken me this long to recover.  The bachelorette party is the 23rd of next month and I’m going to make sure I take off Friday and Monday as well as the Monday after the wedding in April.  When you have a chronic illness, anything you do just exacerbates it, and I think that’s what happened here.  However, come hell or high water, I’m going into work tomorrow.  There’s too much to do; it’s month end, and I feel guilty calling out for two days.  

How has this winter been treating the rest of you?  The weather changes don’t help me either, but now that I have my nebulizer it’s been a lot better. Don’t take breathing for granted!
