Progress: Chapter 15 Second Edit
Well that picture took me a while to decide on. It’s not that I don’t have a lot of pictures to choose from (my FFVII Pinterest board alone has over 3k pins…most of them Sephiroth…don’t judge me); it’s more the issue of finding the right one for the right situation and not duplicating. I keep a folder of all the ones I’ve used for this post so I don’t do that, and not only the first but the alternative I wanted have already been used. Oh well.
I’m nearing the end of Chapter 15’s second (?) edit. I’ll probably do another one since it’s technically the first edit after I split it. I should have both chapters up before my next status update.
“Aeris…you adore me,” he gently said, breaking through her thoughts. “You let me hold you, protect you…love you. Love is worth more once it is given and is priceless when it is shared.”

Progress: Recording Chapter 1
The best laid plans, yo. I was going to record this Friday. I even didn’t take my one medicine in preparation, but I think my new nebulizer is affecting my voice, too. With the ever changing weather exacerbating my asthma, it’s been really dicey. Thankfully, it’s now March, which means spring is coming soon. Hell, here in the states we did that “spring forward” bullshit for Daylight Savings Time. It’s…SO…annoying. One, why do they do it Saturday to Sunday instead of Friday to Saturday? It’s not going to help anyone working the weekends or overnight, of course, but I don’t’ get why you’d pick the end of the weekend. More importantly WHY THE HELL ARE WE STILL DOING THIS??? Daylight is going to increase naturally anyway as we near and pass the vernal equinox. Why artificially lengthen it? Daylight does not require Viagra. Anyway…I’m salty I haven’t had the ability to finish this, because I really want to start the editing work on it, but it’ll happen eventually.
In Progress
- TV Show Review: The Umbrella Academy – I let it marinate long enough so I started writing up my review. I have to use Wikipedia to remember some of the details, but I figured that would be necessary, since my memory is shit.
- Game Review: Oxenfree – I’ve started editing this one, so it should be up before the next SOTW post.
- Book Review: The Habitation of the Blessed by Catherynne M. Valente – I did some digging around about Thomas the Twin, but there’s only so much the internet contains, and I don’t have any Gnostic texts right now. I think I’ll have better luck with looking up “Prester John.”
What a seemingly unproductive two weeks lol. I didn’t post any reviews or chapters, but that doesn’t mean I wasn’t hard at work. I’m hoping to have all my In Progress items up if not more by the next time.
I’ve been thinking a lot about my short story The Threads of Sorrow and what to do with that. My friend and fellow writer & blogger Kat McIntyre gave me the link to Burroughs Publishing about two years ago, but I just wasn’t feeling it for some reason. Threads was published before in a now defunct journal, and I really want to find it a new home even if I publish it myself. I’ve also been thinking about one day publishing my FFVII essays, of course after a great deal of revision, editing (mine and professional), and proofreading. It’s more of a far in the future idea though. I’d like to get my Song of Sevens comparative series out first, and I have a lot of research to complete before that can occur.
Do you have any projects that are complete or near completion that you’ve been sitting on for a while because you either don’t know or are uncertain about the next step? Let’s commiserate in the comments!

I hate this time change so much, ugh, though I’m very ready for spring. I hope your asthma won’t be too aggravated by pollen etc.
As for projects, I’ve wanted to work on creative writing so much! Am definitely feeling ready to get back to it. I really need to read over the old drafts of my novels to see what I want to integrate into the new version of my project. Have a bunch of academic papers to write first, though.

It’s…awful, and completely useless. I think the only state that doesn’t do it is Arizona. Pollen doesn’t seem to bother it thankfully! I feel like the cold causes much more of a reaction.
Don’t beat yourself up too much when you re-read them hehe. I’ve read things I wrote years ago and I wanted to bury my head lol. Good luck with your papers. Last semester whoooo!

WHY ARE WE STILL DOING THIS DAYLIGHT SAVINGS CRAP??? Ahem. It’s so archaic, serves no purpose, harms health, and seriously needs to stop. I love the quote I see floating around: “Only the Government would believe that you could cut a foot off the top of a blanket, sew it to the bottom, and have a longer blanket.”
Good luck with your publishing future! It’s a harsh world since creative soul and hardhearted business logic don’t exactly go together well. You can do it!

Because the people in charge are TERRIBLE. I didn’t realize Canada does it, too! I think it’s a conspiracy to keep the US and Canada in the same time zone. I don’t know what the conspiracy is supposed to accomplish, but it’s happening. I think we still do it because it’s “traditional” blech. I’m a stubborn Taurus and I think it’s asinine. There’s no reason to continue a bad tradition when you could just stop screwing up peoples’ sleep schedule. When I take over the world DST is going to be the first thing to go…after all the awful politicians >:)

I’m attempting to write. That’s my new thing. It’s intimidating.

If you’re feeling self conscious about it, remember the wisdom of Jake: “Sucking at something is the first step to being really good at it!” I’d read the hell out of anything you write. Your reviews crack me the fuck up.

Aw, thank you! I really have to start making it a priority or it will never get going, let alone finished. 🙂

I’m looking forward to your Umbrella Academy review, especially since I know you didn’t like it too much. It was hugely flawed, although I enjoyed it if I didn’t try to analyse, but I’ll enjoy seeing it picked apart. I’ve not been around for a while, so it’s good to know you’re still writing. I hope you’re doing well, and that the asthma gets better soon 🙂

How is your writing going? I think you said you were taking a hiatus to work on some of your kick ass novels! I cannot wait to read whatever you’re writing.
Gah, I wish I could just not analyze EVERYTHING lol. But it’s good for making posts hehe. I lost some of my steam with it, but I’ve written enough that it would be a waste not to finish it.

I put together a first draft, then all of life got in the way! I’ll get back to it soon hopefully. I doubt it’s kick ass though, but thank you! 🙂
I think analysis is great (and yours is always insightful and entertaining), although sometimes it can plague the brain. It would be handy to have a small switch to flick for when you feel like just enjoying something dumb. Thinking about it, maybe alcohol is that switch.

First drafts are always like that lol. There’s a meme that describes it as “shoveling sand to make the castle.” That’s how I look at it when I’m not super satisfied with what I have. I can always sculpt and re-sculpt it later.
Ugh, I know. Shut up troll brain lol.
