A post updated every other Sunday discussing my current writing projects and any completed the prior two weeks.
Finished Projects: 1
Project: Story
Title: The Broken Rose
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Type: Fanfiction
Fandom: Final Fantasy VII
Length: Novel
Current Word Count: 254,537
Prior Word Count: 253,441
Word Difference: +1096
Status: Editing
Progress: Final (god willing) Edit of Chapter 17
So remember how I decided to change/update some things? Yeaaaaah, I completely scrapped that. Well, not completely. I left some of the sewn seeds, but decided I was jumping the gun a bit. This meant I had to find a previously saved version, which was no difficult feat as I consistently email copies of the story to myself. What was difficult was getting it to open. For some reason Word didn’t want to cooperate, so I had to use Google Docs, which is fine. You can copy/paste from there just as readily, and I guess it’s nice not having to save/rename another copy of the story unnecessarily. Right now I’m re-editing the parts I switched back to make sure it flows, and if all goes well, I should have the next chapter out by the end of this week.
Project: Story Audio Recording
Title: Northern Lights
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Type: Fanfiction
Length: Novel
Fandom: Final Fantasy VII
Status: Recording
Progress: First edit of Chapter 1
I’m pretty much stalled on this until I can record again. I’m off tomorrow, but I have an appointment at 9 in the morning about thirty minutes away, which means it’s an hour with rush hour traffic (ugh). Afterwards I’ll more than likely need to nap, so it’s uncertain if I’ll be able to record before my husband gets home. What I can do is some initial set up tonight aka know exactly what I need to record, which will make it easier if I attempt to do some tomorrow. Fingers crossed.
Project: Story
Title: Ethereal Blue
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Type: Fanfiction
Length: Short Story
Fandom: Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
Current Word Count: 1240
Prior Word Count: 463
Word Difference: 777
Status: Drafting
Progress: Chapter 1
777 words written. What a lucky number. I haven’t gotten as much work done on this as I wanted, but I’m still happy I broke a thousand words. I want to make a writing playlist for this and work on this today. I definitely need to a quiet space to do so. This is what I call my “happy fic,” since the focus is more on an awkward and utterly adorable relationship and not so much on dark, tragic pasts (though I could bring that to bear *don’t bring up dead moms. DON’T BRING UP DEAD MOMS*). The only problem with this is I have to be a in fairly decent mood, because I can’t write happy shit if I’m in a depressive state, but I feel pretty good today, so we’ll see. I’ve also never done M/M before, but it’s honestly not much different from M/F; however, I love the challenge of new things with writing, and I do something new/different with every story even if it’s slight. I’m started to feel less…embarrassed (?) by this pairing so I may talk about what it is at some point. I also know none of my lovely blogger peeps will judge, but I’m still…weird about it lol. Only because while I’ve seen a TON of love about it on tumblr, it’s still a bit off the cuff lol.
Project: Story
Working Title: The High Archon
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Type: Original Novel
Status: Organizing
It’s hard to write an anti-dystopian novel when you’re living in a dystopian hellscape. I constantly think about this story as an almost anathema to current events then I get sad(der) because the world is both so far removed and the main plot of The High Archon is still something that constantly happens even in this better world. But I persevere.
In Progress
- Essay: Game of Thrones S5E8 The Bells: Final Fantasy VII Did It Better – I completely forgot to put this here last time. The title is more than likely just a working one, but it’s pretty much how I feel along with the rest of the GoT fandom, though I give it an FFVII comparative twist, which I haven’t seen anywhere else. I also talk about Avengers: Endgame, which I have seen, but FFVII seems like an even better comparative piece given the circumstances.
- Book Review: The Last Stitch Goes Through the Nose by Moses Norton – I recently finished it and promised the author I’d write a review afterwards. Since my review list is like 50 books behind, and I’m sure he’d appreciate a review before the end of this year (or the next) I bumped this book to the top.
We found out we can’t do a transfer move in our apartment complex because of the damage to our rugs *rolls eyes* I talked to the leasing contact and she said she’ll get the property manager involved on Monday, but I also made plans to look at another place nearby that’s actually a little less. I’d rather move within my complex since it’s so close to my work, but I’m not going to be stuck in my shitty apartment for a nonsense reason, nor am I playing to replace the carpet. What was the point of putting down a security deposit and pet fee if that was going to be the case? Our lease has also renewed automatically, which I let happen because otherwise there’d be a limit on finding a new home in the complex, but now if we don’t, I’ll need to break the lease, which I’m willing to do because I hate where we are so much. Ideally, I’d love to just buy a house, but we don”t have the money for that at the moment, and I refuse to live where I am for another year. Stay tuned for more drama!
What’s your ideal living arrangement? I’m a fan of Victorian houses and beach mansions (duh…), but for practicality (and my arthritic knees’ sake) I’d take a rancher.

Yay for the writing progress, but ugh on the apartment stuff.
As for ideal living arrangements, hmm. Somewhere with lots of light and a big flower garden with trees outside. (Sephiroth’s mansion in TBR sounds prettymuch perfect ha).
Well, I’ve officially finished my expensive and time consuming bar review course . . . may it help me on the test, which is Tuesday. x.x Guess I should go review the rules of Civil Procedure again. At least, whether I pass or not, I’ll be free of studying hell for a while . . .

I’m still not sure what we’re going to do and we saw a place we liked this morning. It’s $500 more a month than where we currently are and my ultimate goal is to be able to buy a house, so idk. I hate our apartment, but it just seems more practical to stay here at this point because otherwise we’re breaking the lease

Apartments are so weird about carpet. I’ve lived at ones where I’ve had to pay to replace the carpet and then other ones where they just automatically replace the carpet after someone moves out. (Plus, you’re right. That is exactly what deposits are for!)
Hopefully, you guys can buy a house sometime in the near future. It’s a lot of maintenance work but so worth it. No house will be perfect though. After 2 years we’ve come to find that our house is pretty small and would like a slightly larger one. BUT, we’re not going anywhere anytime soon. We’ll make it work.

Honestly, that’s what my ultimate goal is: the house buying. We saw another apartment today and we both really liked it, but it’s more expensive than where we’re living now and that would make it harder to save for a house. Idk. I need to think about it.

That’s a tough decision! I don’t know how buying a house in Michigan compares to buying in Pennsylvania but when the time comes, if you need help with anything let me know. We bought our house without a realtor so I learned more than I bargained for. 😛

I have a few agents I could contact. I *might* just to see what our options are and what we need to do beforehand. We’re first time home buyers so we could hopefully only have to put down 3-5%. I don’t want to pay more than a grand a month in mortgage if I could help it. It can be such a crap shoot.

We have an FHA loan so little bit higher interest rate but much less money down. We negotiated that the seller help with some of our closing costs if we gave them what they were asking for. Unfortunately, the appraisal didn’t come in for what they wanted but we still gave them that exact amount. So I think out of pocket, we spent around $2500 to get our house.

That’s what I was looking into since we’d be first time, too. I know a lot of people who do it that way, because no one in our generation has any money lol.

Exactly! Who the fuck has 20% to put down like they used to require? lol.

Right?? If we’re lucky we’ll have $10k saved but more likely only $5k which I’m okay with.

Victorian houses are definitely something I favor as well. 🙂 I used to live in a small town that had an old historical Victorian home with property taking up a whole city block. It is quite the stunner and any time I drive by it all I can think is “I WANT IT!” Haha If only. 😛
Hope you find a place you love soon! ❤

We actually just saw a place this morning that we both liked, but…idk. It’s not that we don’t hate our old place and want to move, but the new place is more expensive, which would make it harder for us to afford a house, which is our ultimate goal. I need to make a pros/cons list.
