A biweekly post updated every other Wednesday detailing my current reading projects and what new titles I’ve added to my to-read list.  Title links go to Goodreads, and if you have an account there feel free to friend me!  I’d love to see what you’re reading and/or planning to read.

Snow White Learns Witchcraft: Stories and Poems by Theodora GossMedia: eBook/Kindle
Progress: 41%

My favorite story so far is Blanchefleur and that’s not just because I love cats.

Title: The Case of Charles Dexter Ward
Author: H. P. Lovecraft
Date Added: March 15, 2013
Date Started: May 9, 2019

The Case of Charles Dexter Ward coverMedia: eBook/Kindle

This story almost seems like it’s trying to pinpoint the place where sanity ends and insanity begins and finds it’s not that simple of a question.  The idea is Ward’s European trip was the beginning of his madness, but Dr. Willett refused to concede that point, and you really can’t.  It’s not so much a switch as a continuum.  This is going to be so useful in my FFVII essays…

Title: Tigana
Author: Guy Gavriel Kay
Date Added: February 9, 2016
Date Started: December 8, 2018

TiganaMedia: Paperback
Progress: 87%

I want to read everything this man has ever written.

Title: The Hero With a Thousand Faces
Author: Joseph Campbell
Date Added: April 24, 2014
Date Started: December 3, 2018

The Hero With a Thousand FacesMedia: Hardback
Progress: 56%

I got to the most important part:

“The Kabbala represents the process of creation as a series of emanations or sephiroth out of the I AM of The Great Face.”  Yassss bitch.

I’m one book behind schedule in my challenge, which is fine.  I’m sure I’ll catch up.  I’m almost finished the Lovecraft and nearly 90% on Tigana, though that could still be a few weeks out.  That novel is like a rich meal.  You can’t devour it too quickly otherwise it’ll be a waste.

What’s the longest it’s ever taken you to finish a book?

  2. It took me several years to read the whole Bible, but I wasn’t really blasting through it.

As far as novels go La Nuit de L’Erreur by Tahar Ben Jelloun took several months, but French is not my first language so it was a difficult read for me.

I’ve got Tigana on my shelf right now, picked it up at a library sale and am looking forward to reading it.
