Forgiveness by Doreen Richter

So we need to talk about this picture.  This picture was created by the fore mentioned Doreen Richter who was inspired to make it by Northern Lights.  Yes.  You read that correctly.  SOMEONE CREATED THIS BEAUTIFUL PIECE OF ART BASED ON MY INANE SCRIBBLINGS.  AHHHHHH.  She posted it on my Sephiroth RP/Fan page, which I’m shit at keeping updated but I try.  I didn’t even know the post was there until about a week afterwards, so I apologized profusely.  She didn’t get back to me on whether or not she has an art page, so I can’t put a link anywhere, but I am completely humbled and flattered that someone drew a picture based on one of my stories.  The detailing on Sephiroth’s hair is nothing less than amazing and must have taken her long hours and many hand cramps to complete.   It’s things like this that help pull me from the miring thoughts of “I’m wasting my time” and “Why am I doing this?” so never think your likes and comments, no matter how brief, mean nothing.  They mean everything ♥

Chapter 18’s edit is going well, though I’ve been kind of tired while doing it, so it’s possible the second edit will have me banging my head on the wall wondering wtf was wrong with my the first go-round.  I do one edit and indicate the places where I want to add anything, if necessary, then I add it before the second edit.  I don’t know how good of a system this as as I could add them before the first edit, but I like having a sense of the chapter prior.

It was the horizon tingeing the deeps, and the fallen knew soon they would come.  He could not escape them, their judgment so cold.  It followed him, stalking his steps.  The moon was far gentler, lending its light to silver that washed leather black.  They were less blatant at least near that sphere, but the darkness spread out past forever.  Their eternal palette to pierce cruelly through, but what lay beyond was far worse.

Probably would’ve made sense to put The Broken Rose picture here but eh?  I’m planning on working on this during my two week’s vacation, which starts next week.

So many ideas, so little time.  This looks like it’s turning into another of my vacation projects (I have a list now) because I’ll have my own quiet time at home to work on it.

Project: Story
Working Title:
The High Archon
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Type: Original Novel
Status: Organizing

It’s a bit too ambitious to say I’ll do any real work on this during my vacay, but I may get more ideas down and who knows?

In Progress

  • Essay: Game of Thrones S5E8 The Bells: Final Fantasy VII Did It Better – another vacation project.  I think I’ll just list them below.
  • Book Review: The Last Stitch Goes Through the Nose by Moses Norton – I split this up into Review and Analysis, and I’m on the Analysis part right now.  This way I can “spoil” the plot for those who’ve also read it without ruining it for those who just want a review.  There are things I need to discuss.

Vacation Projects 2019

My job requires me to take two consecutive weeks of vacation every year, so every year I plan out projects to work on and/or complete that I can’t figure into my regular day to day.  In the past I went overboard, putting too much on my plate, didn’t finish most of them, and felt like a failure, so this year I’m trying to make it more manageable.  Here they are.

  • Essay – FFVII Did It Better
  • Story – Ethereal Blue
  • Streaming Test – TBD and open for suggestion, though I’m considering:
    • Octopath Traveler
    • Night in the Woods
    • Final Fantasy VII
  • Audio Recording – Northern Lights Chapter 1

I’ll schedule them out by this weekend.  The streaming test is one I definitely want to do, and I’ll keep you all informed.  I’m on Twitch so that’s going to be my go to (I also really need to catch more of Hungry Goriya’s streams.  I miss her ;_;)

Will I accomplish all of this?  Eh, we’ll see.

After visiting a beautiful ground floor apartment/condo in Chesterbrook (ten minutes away from where we live now), we decided to stay in our shitty apartment because our ultimate goal is to buy a house.  I was in a depressive, nonverbal state after I came to that decision, but now I’m back to my cynical, hilarious self.  It wouldn’t make sense to move to a more expensive place if we’re trying to save money for a house.  The adult side of me knows that, but the “I fucking hate this apartment/my life is on hold once again” side of me is allowed to be sad about it.  Life is disappointing.  Pass me the wine for my whine.  If we play our cards right aka save money aka my health problems don’t bankrupt us, we could buy something by this time next year, and since we’re first time home buyers, we shouldn’t need to put too much down.  Next weekend I plan to figure out how much we can put away for month after I do the budget for September.

What’s your favorite distraction from adult responsibilities?  My go to is usually a double whammy.  I’ll watch something on YouTube or Hulu while playing a puzzle game so my brain is too preoccupied with that to think about how much I hate everything.  Sweet Meteor of Death 2020!

  2. That’s really cool that someone was inspired to create art off of your writing! I can only imagine how good that feels.
You definitely get to be sad about life being on a kind of hold for the next year! I’ve done that a lot in the last several years. First, it was buying the house. Then we had to figure out a car situation…twice. Then it was saving money for the big Florida trip and then NYC right after that. I’d like to say things are calming down now but we have plans to do a couple more of expensive things and with all the medical bills needing to be paid, it gets me down often. If there is one thing I’ve learned through it all, is that things generally turn out okay. Maybe not exactly how we want, but we manage. Hang in there!

  3. Congrats on the fan-art! Loved the last chapter of TBR; I’m sorry I haven’t commented on it yet. I am moving to a new town for my job so it’s been a little hectic, as usual for my life I guess. 😀
I have been trying to get back into my writing projects, but like you’ve been doing with The High Archon, I really need to get organized! Which takes time . . . I’m just not good at writing without any organization at all; I need some structure to build from.
Good luck with the housing situation; my brother and his wife are in a similar situation. Everything is just so expensive. x.x

    • Well that’s exciting! Is the new town far away? Congrats on the job, too! Yeaaaah, life never seems to just…stop, until it, well does, haha. I’m hoping to write the Zelda fanfic during my vacation and see about organizing more.

I think it’s better that we’re staying so we can save. It just makes more sense.

  4. Thank you for posting my fanart here. It means so much to me! Yes, I don’t actually have a blog (just Tumblr, FB and Twitter) because my three kids are keeping me busy 😉 That’s the reason I don’t post comments that offen, too. But nevertheless, I follow your work and you really don’t have to think that nobody cares ❤ The new chapter of TBR is lovely, as always. Can’t wait to read more. Good night from Germany.

    • You’re so welcome!!! I’m glad you found my blog so you could see it 🙂 I wish I kept up more with my fanpage. I love it, but I’m always so crunched for time, something I’m sure you understand with three little ones running around, buuut you still had time to make amazing art 🙂

Let me know your tumblr handle; I’m on there pretty often to keep up with my fandoms. I should have Chapter 18 up soon, hopefully in the next two weeks since I’m on vacation.

We *almost* visited Germany this year for Oktoberfest since my hubby has German ancestry and he’s wanted to go ever since I met him. I was going to surprise him for his 40th birthday, but it didn’t quite work out this year. I’ve wanted to visit England and Paris forever and just Europe in general. One of these days 🙂

  5. That’s amazing about the art inspired by your writing! Congrats! That is so cool! 😀
Sorry you didn’t end up doing the move you were hoping for but hopefully it will all be worth it soon when you guys get to move into your first house! ❤
My distraction lately has been re-watching Attack on Titan. lol Since the episodes are so short I can squeeze them in here and there between all the stuff I've got going on.

    • I’m so freaking flattered.

I think it’s better because now we can save more for buying a house. I’m thinking of talking to an agent now just to figure out what our options are. We have about $20k in credit card debt right now so I don’t know if it would be better to try to pay that down or save more. I could definitely handle a mortgage of around $1000, which I’m hoping we can get so long as we don’t look for something too outlandish. Ugh adulting D:
