A weekly post updated every other Tuesday detailing my current gaming projects. I have an account at Grouvee, which is a site you can use to keep track of your backlog, so please feel free to friend me there!
What I’m Playing
Title: Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millennium Girl
Series Title: Etrian Odyssey
System: Nintendo 3DS
The story’s getting really interesting. My characters were asked to commit genocide, which none of them were cool with. You get dialogue options as the main Highlander character, and even though I know it’s “just a game,” I can’t respond in a way that’s against my own moral compass. Plus I’m hoping to get the one character to like like me if at all possible, lol.
I do love all of the Norse Mythology references in the story. Three of the characters are from the Midgard Library. We’re exploring Yggdrasil and Gladsheim in search of Gungnir, the only weapon that can destroy the dangerous Yggdrasil core. I’m glad this one has the story option, though you could play it without, and I’m guessing it would be similar to Etrian Odyssey V.
Title: Final Fantasy VI
Series Title: Final Fantasy
System: PlayStation 3 (Port)
I’m trying to figure out what the hell I’m going to do about this game, since I’m having technical difficulties with my equipment. I know there’s a version available on the DS, which I don’t mind purchasing, but it would mean I’d have to start over again. I really don’t want to do that, so I’m in quite a quandary. If I can get the TV to cooperate, I could finish that way, and I won’t have to deal with it anymore for this project (at least not until I get to XIII if that’s not on the Switch yet) since Final Fantasies VII-X are ported to the Switch.
What I Played
- Pic-a-Pix Deluxe
- Superbeat: Xonic – This was a bit more difficult than I’m used to in a rhythm game, and the controls were a little weird. I haven’t gone back to it after the first play. Even if I never do, it was less than a dollar, so I’m not too heartbroken about it.
Let’s Plays
I’m being super lazy, and this is how I want to do this this week, especially since I watched a bunch of repeats.
- Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap – I freaking love watching this game. It’s just so upbeat and so much fun. I think that’s credit to the Let’s Player (Olizandri), too.
- Legend of Zelda: The Windwaker – I’ve been on a Zelda kick lately I suppose because of Breath of the Wild. I wound up watching this one, as well. I remember how much I hated the cell shaded graphics when I first saw it and believed Nintendo was going backwards and being less realistic, but it holds up so well. They knew what they were doing because that look is timeless like sprites in an RPG (sorry FFVII, I do love you the best, but your graphics did not withstand the test of time). Devs are still using sprites for current games because they’re so beloved by the gaming community, and while I don’t know if cell shading is still as readily used, Windwaker still looks good after almost 20 years.
- Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass – I’m currently watching this and will be going to Spirit Tracks afterwards. There’s a lot of hate for that game, but I love it.
I feel like I already talked about my streaming fails in prior posts, but yeah, streaming fails all the way. I’m going to try again hopefully this weekend on the other computer.
