The State of the Writer: 10/20/19

<–The State of the Writer: 10/6/19         The State of the Writer: 12/1/19–>

A post updated every other Sunday discussing my current writing projects and any completed the prior two weeks.

Finished Projects: 1

  • Secret Project – Even though it was a bit late, I finally finished my secret essay and I can now start working on Preptober…more than halfway through the month *sigh*

I was hoping to have Chapter 19 posted by today.  In fact had I not woken up at 5 I probably would have. Everything is all set up; I just need to do it.  If I get this post done in a timely manner and I have the brain power, I will afterwards.

Between editing TBR and working desperately to get that essay finished, I haven’t had a spare moment for this.  What’s worse is I still won’t going forward since it’s almost November and I want to concentrate on The High Archon with the rest of October spent in prep.

Project: Story
Working Title:
The High Archon
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Type: Original
Length: Novel
Status: Organizing

October is almost over and I’ve done zero prep.  That was supposed to have changed today, buuuut as fore mentioned I didn’t get out of bed until 5 and I have this to do so…I’m going to work on it on Tuesday.  Pretty much what I want to do is make an outline for the first chapter since that was giving me the most trouble.  Once I get past the beginning awkwardness it’s easier since I have everything from the inciting incident planned.  It’s writing the MC and establishing the world before that life changing event that’s difficult.  There’s also the matter of a major change later, but that’s not nearly as difficult as the first chapter (I don’t think…)

Project: Story Audio Recording
Title:
Northern Lights
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Type: Fanfiction
Length: Novel
Fandom: Final Fantasy VII
Status: Recording
Progress: First edit of Chapter 1

I’ve been putting this off, too.  Haha, I should call this update “Things TSN Has Been Putting Off.”  Though I might be able to work on it through NaNo since it’s technically not writing or not entirely writing.

In Progress

  • Book Review: Peddling Doomsday by Petra Jacobs – I need to reschedule book reviews since I replaced them with that other project.  I’d like to get this done before NaNo.

If you hadn’t noticed, my next status update isn’t until December.  I’ll be doing what I’ve done in years past and taking a blog hiatus for November so I can concentrate on NaNoWriMo.  I don’t expect to finish the story in that time, but I’d like to at least get a jump start.  Even though I’ll be concentrated on The High Archon, I’ll still try to work on the Northern Lights audio recording and maybe TBR if I have time since editing and writing, while similar, take different energies.

Mkay…I need to see what else I can salvage out of this day.

Ah!  I almost forgot about the kitten.  Sadly, none of our efforts to catch the baby have been fruitful 😦  I did meet with my coworker’s friend with the cage that Sunday and we set it up, but to no avail.  Later on something apparently went in and ate the food, but didn’t spring the trap.  Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to check it myself, my health is been kind of poor, but others have been keeping up with it.  The coworker in question has seen dead little critters around, the kind a kitty would hunt, which is a little weird since my other coworker said he was just a little guy.  We’re hoping to eventually catch him even if he is old enough to look after himself.  If he’s young enough he could be coaxed away from his feral lifestyle, and if not he can at least be neutered and get a once over from a vet.  If anything happens, I will let you all know.

  2. Yay for more TBR soon! Am also excited you’ll be getting to work on your original stuff again too. I’m excited for NaNo, even though the site deleted all my writing buddies for some reason. 😦 Will re-friend you (I’m MegJ on there I think).
