The State of the Writer: 1/12/20

<–The State of the Writer: 12/29/19         The State of the Writer: 1/26/20–>

A post updated every other Sunday discussing my current writing projects and any completed the prior two weeks.

Finished Projects: 1

Project: Story
The Broken Rose
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Type: Fanfiction
Fandom: Final Fantasy VII
Length: Novel
Current Word Count: 253,411
Prior Word Count: 253,632
Word Difference: -221
Status: Editing
Progress: First edit of Chapter 21

I may just finish the first edit this week.  Usually when the first edit takes a while, the second one is easier…usually.  If I add a lot I still have to smooth that out with the next edit.  If I get it posted by the end of the month, I’ll be happy.

Project: Story Audio Recording
Title: Northern Lights
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Type: Fanfiction
Length: Novel
Fandom: Final Fantasy VII
Status: Editing
Progress: First edit of Chapter 1

I finished my first listen through to fix the timing and ran a sound filter.  I’m debating what I’m going to do the next go round.  Whether or not I just want to re-listen to make sure the timing between phrases sounds right, or if I want to start deciding on the images I want to use at the same time.  I’ll have to finalize the timing prior to adding the pictures to the audio of course, as that’s another timing issue, but I could at least get that kick started.  The music will come afterwards.  I’m also still concerned that the sound quality is uniform throughout.

In Progress

  • Game Review: Final Fantasy VI – I finished up the Gameplay section.  Next up is summarizing and analyzing the story.
  • Book Review: A Reaper at the Gates by Sabaa Tahir – This is one of the best books I read in 2018, and I can’t wait to talk about it.

I can’t wait to finish Twin Peaks so I can watch the prequel movie Fire Walk With Me.  I took a chance on spoilers and googled the poem where that title came from because I love spooky rhymes, plus saying “fire walk with me” reminds me of other cool things (omfg…that wasn’t meant to be a pun but here we are *facepalm*).

I will probably do a post about TP at some point.  I wish I had the time to do the State of the Watcher post biweekly like these others, but I just don’t so I’ll just talk about it at the bottom of my other status updates.  I will do a yearly update of shows and movies I watched along with my ones for games, books, and writing though, and I’m always up for show discussions.  I haven’t watched any more Witcher because Twin Peaks is more interesting, but I’ll catch up eventually.  I haven’t even heard that song yet lol.  I caught the latest episode of The Good Place, and I’m looking forward to how the series ends.  I actually like when shows have definitive ending points instead of just lingering on and on into irrelevance and redundancy (e.g. The Simpsons and Family Guy.  Oddly enough I’m okay with American Dad! because it’s remained funny).

Anyway, as for writing, I’m hoping to finish editing and posting The Broken Rose before the year is half over.  After that I have a few options.  I might go back to The High Archon, but then again I could work on finding a new home for the short story I wrote some years ago, and I’d still like to rework my first original novel, and there a ton of ideas I’d love to work on, but of course time :\

It might be a new year, but I have the same issues *shrug*

  2. Ugh, never having enough time to work on all the projects one wants to work on is such a bummer. I’d be so happy if I could just spend the same amount of time I do working each week toward doing something creative. ❤
