It has finally happened.  The day so many of us were yearning for arrived in the year of our Lord (that Lord being Sephiroth of course) 2020…during a pandemic when I have no other fucking thing to do.  FINALLY a good portion of my fantasies have come to fruition, and I dove headfirst into this epic of epics, and yes, it is AMAZING.  Every time Sephiroth showed up with all his tall, gorgeous glory I started screaming and tbh it almost felt like a zoom meeting where you’re just wait for the cat to appear.

I didn’t get the foreshadowing exactly right, but I was kind of close.  I’m also glad it wasn’t what I feared, because I probably would’ve thrown the book against the wall.  The end seemed a little rushed especially with how much the event that happened there was hyped, and everything was wrapped up pretty quickly, but honestly?  It didn’t remotely detract from my enjoyment.  I’m not sure if the next book in the series will be my next read, but I will be reading it sooner rather than later.

I would say I’m in the home stretch for this story because I only have two or three more chapters left, but that would be a lie.  There’s still SO much, and I might be splitting some parts up.  Something very important does happen in Chapter 23, something people have been bugging me about lol.  This chapter is…easier (?) to edit?  I don’t know if that’s the right term.  It’s more like I was reaching a pinnacle and I was in the zone when I wrote it, so a lot of it is very smooth.  There are still some patches that need some TLC, and I have a lot of things that need to be added, but it’s not like there’s a shortage of inspiration these days, am I right?

*******MAJOR CONTENT WARNING*******

Consistent and sustained graphic descriptions and mentions of rape/ sexual assault, sexual slavery/bondage, slavery, human trafficking, physical abuse, graphic descriptions of violence, mental abuse, emotional abuse, psychological abuse, body shaming, starvation, torture, forced pregnancy, forced childbirth, miscarriage, forced miscarriage, abortion, and other potential disturbing and triggering topics.

Author’s Note:  This chapter is…awkward lol.  I’m not really sure how else to put it.  I considered doing a less explicit version for people who might feel squeamish about some of the things that happen, but then I just shrugged and figured I’d put a note at the start.  Without giving too much away imagine feeling guilty about something you can’t control and then feeling even guiltier when you attempt to do something about it, but then to make matters worse, no matter what you do or how often you do it, it doesn’t help either the guilt or the issue.  It’s hilariously tragic, and this chapter isn’t even the most graphic.  Oh, and the name of the chapter?  Totally inspired by the GOT Shame Bell.  You should download the app if you have the ability.  It’s quite entertaining.

Sephiroth’s solution to an ongoing problem only gives the general more guilt.

Winter brought bottomless cold without mercy as snow turned the sands purer white.  Both sky and earth were equally colored, and even the sea rolled that grey.  It never froze, as icicles twinkled on their veranda’s overhang.  Aeris would watch in awe by the window, sipping hot chocolate to augment her warmth.  The promise of Heaven never faded and its Gate was never cold.  She could wear what she wished without threat of chill.  Even bare floors gave heat to her soles.  So often, she forewent shoes or slippers.  Fluttering around the estate barefoot in her briefest dresses and skirts.

The Cetra continued to reclaim flesh that would always bear its scars, but she looked less and less fearful to view.  Biting her lip, she’d slide up her top, and trace the thick lines herself.  Tears would still sting at the memory of how such ravage had come, but gentlest kisses and soft silver’s spill reminded her where she was.

What I Obtained

  • Final Fantasy VII Remake – $59.99 @ Amazon (I’m still waiting for it to arrive in the mail, but Amazon assures me it’ll be here today.  I won’t receive the copy from Squeenix until Tuesday…which would be ridiculous if we weren’t in the middle of a pandemic.  I’ll give the big S a pass)

Watching Olizandri do his play through made the itch too strong.  I’d been thinking about replaying this, but wanted to stick to my order.  Then I considered I’d be playing the FFVII Remake before I replayed the original, and I hatched another plan: play the Remake then replay the original, while at the same time playing this and writing the review/analysis for FFVI.  It’s Final Fantasy all the time here in the house of TSN, but who’s surprised by that?

Apparently I even forgot to include this last time.  Oh well.  I put it on hold because only the first essay is written by Jung himself.  Not that I doubt the other psychologists aren’t worth my time, but I really liked Jung’s style.  I think I’m going to splurge and pick up his Psychology and Alchemy, because I’ve been pretty immersed in the latter.  It’s…EVERYWHERE, and I want to be able to pinpoint its symbols and usages in FFVII et al.

Progress: Prepping to post Chapter 22

I sent a note to a Deviant Artist about the picture I want to use for Chapter 22 (not the one above).  As of yet, I haven’t heard back, so I’m in a bit of limbo, though I now also realize I used a picture for a prior chapter that I didn’t ask permission for.  Oh, I credited and all, but I can’t locate any proof of correspondence.  I think that’s why I stopped posted this story on DA itself; I didn’t get permission from an artist there for the image I wanted to use.  I could just pick another picture I suppose.  Anyway, I do have backup images, but what I might do is give it another couple of days then check back to see how active the artist is.  If they haven’t really been on the sight I *might* use the picture with all appropriate credits, though I always feel like that’s dicey.
