Well shit…I made an oopsie. I was so set on posting the chapter last night due to being encouraged by correspondence with my illustrator friend I made an embarrassing error. I don’t repeat chapter pictures, or I didn’t before yesterday; however…
I’m not changing it right now, but I will probably want to eventually. I don’t know which chapter I’ll alter either. I think he’s more desperate in the latest one tbh, and I think there might be a better image for that.
I can’t be too mad at myself especially after waking up to this heartwarming and heartbreaking comment from AO3 from user Bagel:
The amount of work you put into this is so plainly visible, and it always warms my heart to see another chapter completed. The way you write these topics is so wonderful and elegant, I’m genuinely grateful that you chose to share it publicly. Aeris’ journey mirrors my own and you’ve done so much justice to her slow yet steady healing that I feel not just represented but also understood and acknowledged. Thank you for all the care and effort taken so far, I know that when this story does come to a close, it’ll be one I revisit fondly.
This is one of the many reasons I take my time with writing/editing and try to ensure I’m doing such a sensitive topic right. I’m pretty empathetic so I *think* I have a good sense of what’s right, but I also have referred to works written by people who have lived through such terrible situations. You have to listen to the ones who have the lived experiences you either don’t or (hopefully) never will, so I’m super humbled by such a comment.

Progress: Adding pictures for slideshow
I thought I was going to gather all the images first before working on the timings, but your girl got anxious to incorporate that and, after around 20 or so, decided to switch to that. I think that’s what I’m going to do: gather around 10-20 pics then work on timing them for the slideshow.
I had a major issue with the audio track not being consistent with the picture through subsequent playbacks and found out using MP3 causes that for some technical reason. I think because MP3s are higher quality so it changes where the sound is slightly? Idk, I switched to WAV and it’s working now.
I have about 20 images (with some dark space in between some of them) and it’s about 6:30 minutes long. Only about 40 more to go :p
In Progress
- Game Reviews: Final Fantasy VI – I’m in Thamasa now. Getting close to the end of the first part!
- Book Reviews: Two Hearts by Peter S. Beagle (The Last Unicorn #1) – I didn’t plan on having this start with a “mini” review of The Last Unicorn, but here we are. I just feel like i have to give some background information since this is a sequel. I need to eventually do a reread and review of the original, but that’s just another thing on my long list.
Did I mention my illustrator friend wants to do pictures for EACH chapter now? Yeaaaaaah, we’re actually going back and forth now about Chapter 2, which she’s sent me sketches for, the most recent in color ♥
Anyway, I need to go back to, uh, what was I doing? Oh yes, watching an FFVIIR LP, prepping for edits, and trying to conquer my to-do list. You know distractions to get through reality’s madness. Toodle-oo!
