A biweekly post updated every other Wednesday detailing my current reading projects and what new titles I’ve added to my to-read list.  Title links go to Goodreads, and if you have an account there feel free to friend me!  I’d love to see what you’re reading and/or planning to read.

I can see where this story is going with the landlord, and I love how Lucy called him out when he played the victim of the people he’s threatening to evict.

Title: The Killing Moon

I can see how Jemisin is setting up the “two sides of the coin” juxtaposition with the main character and the eldritch horror, and I’m here for it.  I love that paradigm.  I thought this was at least a trilogy, but I believe it’s just a duology, and I’ll definitely be reading the next book.

I made the observation that Freyja the goddess is associated with cats, and Freya i n FFIX is a rat lady.  I love it.

I’m so close to finishing this.  One more session should do it.  I’m assuming either all of the things happen really quickly or it has a very short denouement.  Again, I have zero clue how this ends.  I also recently added Carmilla to my TBR list.  That predates this by about 26 years and is thematically about the dangers of homosexuality *eye roll* so I intend to take it with several gay grains of salt out of spite (if I can get through it).

A got a whole bunch of packages today including the purchased FFVII book I noted above.  They were all delivered to the leasing office, and the hubs picked them up.  I have my friend’s baby shower presents just in time for Saturday, and I got my money back, so it’s a win.  I added several other FFVII related books to my reading list.  I knew they existed but didn’t know all the details, and, well, if I’m going to write FFVII essays, I need to consume all of the material (materia? Too easy…).

I’m planning out what I”m going to work on during my two week vacation in September.  I’ve learned over the years not to attempt too much, and I think I’m at a good limit.  I want to fully complete FFVII: Remake, finish editing and posting The Broken Rose, finish the review of FFVI and write the review for The Last of Us: Parts I and II.  I would love to do this in video essay style, but at the least I can put together the outline for it.  I also hope to  make some major headway with Northern Lights’ audio recording.  I still have a ton of research to complete before I start writing essays again, so I’m (anxiously) not planning to work on that (so…goddamn…anxious).  If I can manage to finish up The Broken Rose I’ll be happy.  I’d love to re-edit my short story and see about publishing that, though the complete process certainly won’t happen before NaNoWriMo.  Speaking of which, I definitely want to get more notes written and details hashed out for that during my time off.

  2. Gods and Myths of Northern Europe – I’m from Europe. Got any questions, feel free to holla. I know everything about Europe from 1984 until present (2020). Everything before that, you’ll have to read that book instead.
