The State of the Writer: 9/6/20

<–The State of the Writer: 8/23/20         The State of the Writer: 9/6/20–>

A post updated every other Sunday discussing my current writing projects and any completed the prior two weeks.

Finished Projects: 0

Project: Story
Title:
The Broken Rose
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Type: Fanfiction
Fandom: Final Fantasy VII
Length: Novel
Current Word Count: 250,448
Prior Word Count: 250,199
Word Difference: +249
Status: Editing
Progress: Finished first edit of Chapter 26

I finished the first edit some time last week and added in all of the additional text I felt was necessary.  I am going to do a move explicit version (maybe I’ll password protect it or something, giving it out to anyone who requests?  Idk I’ll figure it out lol), but it’s not like this version is tame by any means :p  I’m on vacation for the next two weeks, and my goal is to finish editing and posting the rest of the story as I only have one chapter left after this.  I love this piece and I still have a lot of offshoot story ideas to explore with it, but I really want to have the main story up prior to November so I can focus on NaNo, plus I’d like to re-edit and start looking into self-publishing my short story in the interim and prep for NaNo as well.

Project: Story Audio Recording
Title: Northern Lights
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Type: Fanfiction
Length: Novel
Fandom: Final Fantasy VII
Status: Editing
Progress: Adding pictures for slideshow

Nothing much new to report with this.  I’m still trucking along with adding images and figuring out how to get around my own ineptitude hehe (in some ways I know I’m just saying that because I don’t want anyone to be disappointed when they see how amateurish this is hahaha omg I’m such an impostor NO ONE LOOK AT ME).    I’m maybe half done.  The video is around 20 minutes with almost 130 images and I believe it’s 45 minutes in total.

In Progress

  • Game Reviews: Final Fantasy VI – I plan to finish this on my vacation.
  • Book Reviews: The Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender by Leslye Walton – I made some progress on this and hope to finish it this week.  There’s a lot to go into so it’ll be more of an essay review rather than a regular one.

As mentioned I’m on my two week vacation and I’m hoping to not only get some things finished, but also set myself up with better habits.  I need to figure out what I can do about my chronic back pain because I miss being active and dancing.  I’ll probably give my doctor a call just so I can see what my options are.  I think I’m supposed to get blood work done anyway.

I thought you needed to have a romance novel published in order to be a member of Romance Writers of America, but it turns out I was wrong.  After watching the latest Lindsey Ellis video (which is banana pants fucking BONKERS btw yet vitally relevant to every author especially romance ones) where it was mentioned, I decided to google just to kind of see what I’d need to accomplish to one day join.  Turns out you only need to be tangibly invested in romance writing aka have 20k words written in either one original piece or a combination, so I could absolutely seek membership.  Granted you need to renew every three years with at least 20k more or your membership becomes associate, but it’s still something I think would be valuable, plus since I’m planning on drafting another novel in November, I think I can keep up.

As for our little princess, she’s been doing a bit better now.  I called the vet because she was still vomited after a few days of the new food.  They want me to bring them poop (it’s always poop lol)  She was doing a lot better and in a much better mood, but she threw up today so I don’t know if she ate too much or what happened.  We may need to get her an ultrasound to make sure everything is okay in there.  She also has zero interest in the wet food, but I found a friend who can use it.  We commiserated over kitties with sensitive stomachs and will eventually figure out how to make the delivery.

For now I hope you enjoy these photos of her royal highness in her little bed in the cat tree.

  2. Awww, what a gorgeous kitty! I hope they can figure out something to help her poor tummy.

Congrats on being so close to finishing TBR! It has been a long process, but I’ve enjoyed seeing it come together and, of course, reading it. 😀 I’m definitely excited to see what you do next once it’s all posted (and to hear more about your NaNo project, yay!).

    • She has been so much better now that she’s gotten used to the food and we’ve figure out how to keep Cid aka Chubs away from it lol.

OOOOMMMGGGG yes, I’m on the third edit of the penultimate chapter. I’m hoping to finish it today or tomorrow and get it posted. I need to work on notes for NaNo. I can’t believe September is half gone, so I need to get on that.
