Title: The Twisted Ones
Author: T. Kingfisher
Date Added: August 26, 2020
Date Started: September 7, 2020

Holy shit, I couldn’t put this down, but I had to at night because I’m a fraidy cat. Foxy is the greatest fucking character ever written, and this is up for my Book of the Year competing with Pestilence. I did not understand why this has a rating under 4 stars on Goodreads, and reading the comments, I still don’t understand. Apparently, some people found the mood whiplash to be unrealistic, like how Mouse would be making jokes in the most dire of circumstances. Do these chuckle fucks not understand morbid/gallows humor?!! That is EXACTLY how my terrified ass would be acting! I am definitely reading more T. Kingfisher.
Title: Bad Monkeys
Author: Matt Ruff
Date Added: August 26, 2020
Date Started: September 16, 2020
Date Finished: September 23, 2020
This is the second sample download that threw my Kindle schedule all out of whack, and I regret nothing with this either. It’s another that has a less than stellar rating, and…I kinda get why, but I don’t quite agree with it. Like it makes sense why all of the things happen. There’s a LOT of bait and switch, and while I guess things do get a bit crazy in the end, I still think it’s an excellent story.
I did not realize this is the author of Lovecraft Country, which is now of course a show. I haven’t watched it yet, because I need to mentally prepare myself, but it’s been on my to read list for a while.
Title: The Snow Queen
Series Title: The Snow Queen Cycle
Author: Joan D. Vinge
Date Added: December 11, 2014
Date Started: September 22, 2020
Media: Hardback (Library)
Progress: 1%
This is one of the most longstanding books on my TBR list, all the way to 2014 but I’ve known about it for much longer. My BFF in high school used to cart it around with her, and while I loved the cover, it was too hard sci-fi for me at the time, and I was a fantasy girl. Now I’m trying to catch up, and the library is a great way to do that.
This is another Snow Queen retelling, which is one of my favorite fairy tales. I think I’m going to replace my daily Kindle with this. I just finished one, and I have a time limit on this since it’s borrowed.
Title: As You Like It
Author: William Shakespeare
Date Added: March 6, 2018
Date Started: September 3, 2020
Media: eBook/Kindle
Progress: Act I, Scene II
Haven’t read any more of this, been too tired. I really like it, but I need to be awake enough to comprehend Shakespeare’s language, and that hasn’t happened.
Title: The Luster of Lost of Things
Author: Sophie Chen Keller
Date Added: September 12, 2017
Date Started: July 22, 2020
Media: Paperback
Progress: 57%
I’m only about halfway through so I’m wondering what wrench is going to be thrown into Walter finding the book. There’s also the plot coupon of him needing to locate his missing pilot father, so I’m sure that will factor in.
Title: Gods and Myths of Northern Europe
Author: Hilda Roderick Ellis Davidson
Date Added: September 21, 2017
Date Started: May 1, 2020
Media: Paperback
Progress: 59%
I finally got to the chapter about Odin as a god of the dead, and this is what I’m here for.
“I fear for Thought lest he not come back, but I fear more for Memory.”
I’m on my shiny new computer right now. I had to start using it sooner than I’d planned, but I guess it’s good I was forced to. It was sitting in front of my coffee table for over a week, and my husband could not understand how I wasn’t all over it, but new computers need to be set up and I just didn’t have the time…until I had to haha. THAT was stressful. I transferred all of my stuff and apparently it was set to go into OneDrive, which only has 5 GBs of space, so I kept getting all of these warning messages about it. Then when I went to delete it, I deleted everything…including my OneNote stuff, which would’ve been bad. So I had to go back through and restore files. It was a pain, but things seem to be good now. I still need to add files for iTunes, but I’ll get to that when I get to it.
Slow cookers are the greatest gift technology ever gave us. I’m going to eat some chili and watch some YouTube.

Both The Twisted Ones and Bad Monkeys sound like something I would totally read.
And I really hope you keep plugging away at As You Like It. Cause then when you’re finished you can watch the David Tennant one. lol. Plus, it’s one of my favorite plays authored by the Bard.

They’re both fantastic. I liked The Twisted Ones a little bit better. The ending of Bad Monkeys was okay, but I have a few critiques.
I’m loving As You Like It. I’ll have to check the DT version out when I’m done!
