Setting up notes in Scrivener

I wound up making a checklist of things I want to do in Scrivener before I start writing.  This was after I went through all of my old notebooks for any scribblings specifically related to the WIP like the stuff involving language and demographic background.  The checklist happened because I wanted a way to catalog what I still needed to nail down before I begin writing (plus I work better with checklists/to-do lists), but I also feel like I’m nearing the point where I just want to start and then figure things out as I go.

The first chapter almost exists as its own story in a way because it’s supposed to establish the main character and her dynamic with her BFF before the inciting incident, and I also need to establish how the world works without telling it.  I also have a list of complex questions with some resolutions in OneNote I need to incorporate.  I was getting way too deep into the language and neglecting other things lol, but I do want to finish up those notes as well as find artwork for more of the characters, which is why Istra is the picture this week.  They’re one of the MC’s siblings, and I’d been trying to find artwork for them for such a while, and just happened to come across this gem.  I also want to clarify each character’s pronoun(s) because the way the language works it’s blatant in how people use the first person.  SO MUCH TO DO.

Project: Story Audio Recording
Title: Northern Lights
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Type: Fanfiction
Length: Novel
Fandom: Final Fantasy VII
Status: Editing
Progress: Adding pictures for slideshow

I don’t want to say I’m in the home stretch because I still have two pages of text to get through, but I am nearing the climax of the chapter.  This is image 199 that I hope to use (with the creator’s permission, that’s a whole other project).  Each section is a puzzle I need to figure out, and this next one is no different, though it leads into one where I’ll have to use a LOT of Sephiroth images, and I’m so sad about that ♥♥♥

In Progress

  • The Books of 2020 – I’m working on my year end book roundup post little by little.  I created this template back in 2017 that I never used, and it has some good stuff on it, so I thought why not.
  • Game Reviews: Final Fantasy VI – I watched two versions of Shadow’s dream sequence yesterday: one from the original game and one from the GBA version.  There were some pretty significant translations differences between them such as in the original Clyde (Shadow’s old name) tells Interceptor that “he wants him and the girl to live in a peaceful world” in the last dream, but in the GBA he literally says “my daughter,” leaving no doubt as to Relm’s paternity.  Also his last interaction with Baram, his bandit partner, is much more blatant, so the GBA version clarified more things whereas the original left it up to interpretation (probably due to Nintendo censorship). There is a lot to write about with him, and I’m looking forward to it.
  • Book Reviews: The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman – I really want to make time to reread The Jungle Book.  I actually forgot it was originally split into two.  I’ll post the review of this before I do that obviously, but I might bump Kipling’s work up on my classic reread list.

So I need to fill out this written survey for my online therapist and LOLOL yeah I have no idea how to talk about this stuff.  I’m sure I’ll figure it out.  I think it’s the judgment I’m afraid of AND looking/sounding stupid, which is something I shouldn’t have to worry about in therapy, but it’s something I worry about all the time.  Hm, maybe I could write that.

I still have a giant brick for a car.  We just haven’t had time to jump the damn thing.  Once we do I can reschedule Cid’s appointment and make one for the spine doctor my GP recommended for me.  The latter is like literally around the corner from me.  Like if I could walk any distance, I’d just walk there.  The vet is a bit further, but still in my town.  Being an adult is terrible, and being human is a freaking nightmare lol.
