A post updated every other Sunday discussing my current writing projects and any completed the prior two weeks.

Progress: Setting up notes in Scrivener & Working on Chapter 1 Outline
The last major thing I have to do is finish up my language notes. I have some minor character details I could figure out, but a lot of that stuff happens in the writing process. I’m super tired today and the caffeine doesn’t seem to be working so yeah. I hope I can get the outline together so I can start writing soon.

Progress: Adding artwork credits
After I don’t even know how many years (two?) the first chapter slideshow is done…with provisions lol. I sat through it twice with the second time being the more productive viewing as I fixed some transitions. I’ve already added the music credits and now I’m working on the art ones, but of course nothing is ever easy.
I started drafting a post called “So now what?” because I was honestly stuck on what the hell to do next. There are so many factors involved with where and even how I can post this not the least of which is the music I’ve used not to mention the artwork. What’s considered fair use and what might earn me a C & D letter? AMVs exist and they use music and images from copywritten sources, but you constantly see them taken down by YouTube. Technically, they’re under fair use as transformative works, at least that’s what I think. That’s another thing; I’m woefully ignorant about fair use. All I know is it depends, so that’s another hurdle. I want to post the video in a place that people can access if they want, but that isn’t necessarily considered public. I’ve been looking at Google OneDrive, though it all depends on how much I can upload there, since as imagined, it’s a huge file.
So what I’m doing now is adding the credits to one copy, while I consider all of my options. I want to at least post the audio someplace soon, since that only has half the issues of the video, and yes, I am absolutely open to suggestion lol.

Progress: Finished first recordings of Chapter 1
I finished putting together the original and makeup recording into what will hopefully sound good. The next step is to work on the timing and clean up the “in between and outside” noises like my clicking the keys and whatnot. I haven’t done anything with this after I finished putting everything together, but I’d like to work on it this week.
In Progress
- Game Reviews: Final Fantasy VI – I’ve been thinking about breaking this review into sections since it’s now over 20k words. I’ll consider that once I’m all finished though. I’m curious how long I’ve been working on it. It’s gotta be coming up on a year now…
- Book Reviews: Unraveling Oliver by Liz Nugent – I’m in the process of summarizing the story for the analysis part. I really wish I had time to just do a video review/essay of this, but I know I won’t have time before I return it to the library. I suppose I could purchase the book; it is really good, and I could see myself reading it again…
Lots of ellipses in the In Progress part this week huh? I’m exhausted. We have to move our couch in a few minutes to clean behind it because Cid has been “missing” the litter box, which is of course a euphemism. Garnet terrorizes him so he’s afraid to use it, and even though we’ve been keeping her in the bedroom at night the damage is already done. I’m hoping once we move we can re-establish things with them, maybe do a reintroduction or get him a kitten. The hubs starts a new job this week and he has an interview, so we should be able to start putting money away again for a house. I’m just happy we didn’t have to dig into that fund.
No clever quips this week. I’m probably gong to take a nap.

Have you tried two litter boxes? Like we were just talking about, cat reasoning makes zero sense. I have one cat but two litter boxes and only JUST discovered a cat litter Zelda really likes so that she doesn’t do the same thing. (13 years later and countless brands and she chooses a generic store brand cat litter.)

Yes…waaah, we HAVE two. The vet was actually impressed that we did when the hubs took him. She said most people only have one for two cats, but the first vet we ever had said you should usually have one more litter box than cats. We don’t have room for a third in our tiny ass apartment, but we do have two. I think he’s so terrified to use it because Garnet bullies him. Like he doesn’t poop ALL night when we have her in the room, then when she comes out he’ll go. I think he doesn’t know where she is so is afraid she’ll just pop out of nowhere. I think having a bigger place will help, but for the interim we’re pretty lost. Brian even rented a carpet cleaning machine to get behind the couch, but he’s still doing it. I feel bad for Cid. We adopted Garnet so he’d have a friend, but she hates him 😦

Ugh…CATS. Lol. Zelda hates other female cats. She’s okay with males but overall I think she just likes being the only cat best. Having a bigger place definitely helps I think. Zelda was an angel for over a year after we moved but then got picky about the cat litter again. =/
If I ever have another cat after Zelda goes, I think I’m going to get a boy. They just seem so much more snuggly and less maintenance.

Omg I’ve heard that, too! That female cats are, er, feistier. I’ve also heard they’re better hunters, and that’s a big ole nope for our Garnet lol. She’s just as terrible as Cid at catching anything. Kin-mei my late, grumpy old man was freaking stellar. Like nothing got past him. He was also a super genius, so that might have had something to do with it. I have heard that boy cats tend to be more mellow. I want to get a kitten or a pair or them once we have our own place because I think Cid would like that.

The flipside to that is that you get another cat and they all hate each other and then things are even more chaotic. D:
I haven’t had coffee yet, I might just be being a negative nancy.
Have you ever watched My Cat From Hell on Animal Planet?

Oh god that’s exactly what would happen. I have friends with four cats and just getting them to tolerate each other was a massive event.
I have! I love Jackson Galaxy ♥ I also love “It’s Me of the Dog” with Victoria Stillwell.

It’s Me or the Dog is my JAM! I always recommend it to people who are having issues with their dogs as a great place to learn good training techniques. I have a friend who is getting a puppy this summer/fall and I keep encouraging them to watch it since they’re nervous about their ability to train.

I freaking LOVE Victoria. That woman is doing the lord’s work lol. I saw one episode with this 13 (15?) year old boy who saw a murder like literal MURDER so he was afraid to walk the dog, and his dad was mocking him for it! Victoria was the only person who listened to him and pretty much told the dad about himself. She’s pretty much a dog trainer and therapist, but it’s never the dogs’ faults. And nearly every episode is “people get puppy/puppy is cute/people don’t train puppy/puppy turns into uncontrollable dog/people make surprised Pikachu face.”

That is an excellent description of how people handle dogs lmfao.
I don’t remember that episode! We’ve been rewatching it on Prime so I need to find that shit and watch it. What an awful father!

It’s on YouTube now for free lol. I just…like I’m not saying training a dog is easy, and when we can finally adopt, I might look into training classes if necessary, but I’m still gobsmacked by these people.

Haha, yeah. There are some real winners on the show. I really like the ones where they haven’t neutered male dogs and have done zero training and they don’t understand what’s going on. Then Victoria trains the dog for a day and it’s an amazing pupil. Lmao. Like, this dog wants to learn so badly and all you had to do was try the minimum amount.

Oh my god that pisses me off so much. Some shitty dude doesn’t want to “take his dog’s virility,” and it’s this toxic masculinity/macho bullshit. I LOVE that Victoria calls them out on it. There’s this one guy though who she had to make a blog post about because the dog wound up biting someone and being taken away from him. He never listened to her; never got his dog neutered even after she took him to the shelter and showed him what happens to animals because he wanted to have puppies. Ugh.

Oi vey. We have this neighbor that watches their mom’s Akita sometimes. He tries to attack Ozzy specifically through the fence. My husband went over there and knocked on the door and of course, the guy tried to make excuses and say the dog isn’t usually a problem. I was so proud of my husband because he was like, “Did you even do any research on Akitas? They don’t like animals outside of the family circle. If you don’t take care of it, YOU AND I are going to have problems. My dog is a senior and he’s not going to spend whatever years he has remaining getting attacked through the fence.”

Of course they do *rolls eyes* People rarely if ever research; they just want a dog that “looks cool.” Like I LOVE huskies. I think their eyes are amazing and their, er, “singing” is stellar, but they tend to have an extremely high prey drive and need a lot of exercise, and I’m not about that life especially since I have two cats (I’m not averse to exercise, but not husky level). It’s like SHOCK you can’t just obtain a living thing solely on how cool/cute it looks. I need a dog who will be good with cats and potential kids, plus I’m not getting a dog until we have a house, and if we have to spring for training then we will.
it’s not fair to Ozzy that he can’t enjoy time in HIS backyard because these people didn’t train or understand their dog.

Rob had to physically pick him up to remove him from the situation because he might be old, but he was ready to go to war with that dog. (Ozzy IS dog friendly but he doesn’t tolerate assholes.)
It’s funny that you mention huskies specifically because that’s what our friends are getting late summer/early fall and we are SO interested to see how they handle it. The girl has had a husky when she was a teen and knows she could have been a better owner so hopefully that’s enough for them to do right by this dog. At minimum, I’ll have a dog to play with when we go over there. 😀

He shouldn’t have to tolerate dogs that weren’t taught to behave! It’s how I’d raise my kids, too LOL. Do no harm, but take no shit. Yes, you shouldn’t hit, but if someone hits you and no adults are doing anything, do what’s necessary. I’ll have your back. Violence should never be the question, but sometimes it has to be the answer if that’s how you’re coming at me.
I wish I knew someone with a husky so I could visit/play with them :p

When I was little, like first grade, this kid kept hitting me with a stick and I kicked him in the balls. The principle made me write a letter home telling my dad what I did. My dad had to keep himself from laughing while he read it because all he could do was visualize this kid’s letter to his parents. “I was hitting this girl with a stick and she kicked me in the balls and dropped me.” When the school asked what my dad was going to do about it he said, “Nothing. I told her if someone ever tried to hurt her, aim for the balls.” They didn’t like that answer and my dad gave no fucks lmao.

See that kind of shit pisses me off because wtf were YOU apologizing? I just saw something about how we teach kids this myth of neutrality and doing stuff to “keep the peace.” If little dude didn’t want him jam jars rocked he shouldn’t have messed with you. The more you talk about your dad, the cooler he becomes. That’s the kind of parent I want to be. Maybe the school should do something about kids hitting other kids with sticks. That would solve the problem.

My dad was regularly picked on when he was in school because he’s older brother would kick people’s asses in fights and then they’d try to get their revenge by beating up my dad. My dad has a Napoleon complex. He is small but fierce lol. He has no tolerance for such bullshit. I was not forced to apologize for jack lmao.
I don’t understand the reasoning with schools that if someone is beating on you, you’re supposed to just take it. That that’s the bigger thing to do. You should take no one’s abuse.

It’s this idea of centralism and neutrality as if both sides have something to offer and have a fair point. That shit is NOT true, but we try to instill it into children because it’s “easy.” In some situations there is value to both sides, but insisting it’s like that all the time is just manipulative. If you’re being bullied and you fight back, they’ll try to paint the fighting back as just as bad as the bullying, and that’s nonsense. You’re fighting back BECAUSE you’re being bullied. You can’t ignore that facet.

That’s so rough about the litter box situation. Hopefully, like you said, the next place will allow for things to change in regards to their litter box hierarchy. lol
We’re thinking we might try to litter train Luna, our hedgehog at work. She poops EVERYWHERE. lol It’d be nice to get it to where she just goes in one spot. Apparently it’s possible but we need to do the research. She’s still young so now’s probably the best time.

I honestly think that’s what it is. We’ll be able to give them more space when we have more space.
I’ve heard you can litter train rabbits! I don’t know nearly enough about hedgehogs to offer any advice there, but the google knows all!
