A post updated every other Sunday discussing my current writing projects and any completed the prior two weeks.

Finished Projects: 1

Project: Story
Working Title:
The High Archon
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Type: Original
Length: Novel
Status: Preparation
Progress:
Setting up notes in Scrivener & Working on Chapter 1 Outline

I really want to start writing as soon as possible.  I feel like I’ve gotten most of the important details hashed out or at least enough of a foundation that I can begin.  I think I’m in that annoying place where I’m getting too much in my head and too worried about starting so I’m becoming nitpicky about details.  The next time I have the energy to work on this, I’m going to put together the first chapter outline.  I really, really want to write the “first meeting” scene, though that’s not for several chapters after a lot of grief.

Title: Northern Lights
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Type: Fanfiction
Length: Novel
Fandom: Final Fantasy VII
Status: Editing
Progress: Editing Chapter 2

I’m almost finished the first edit of Chapter 2.  I stopped working on it like maybe a page before the end, but it was late; I was tired, and I was also planning on going to my SIL’s for Easter today.  That…didn’t happen because *gestures painfully at health issues*  It truly amazes me how much writing can mature (?) in just a few years.  I’m still proud of this story.  It’s still my favorite and my heart story (as I call it), but there’s no work that can’t benefit from more experienced polishing.

Progress: Adding sound effects

I didn’t quite follow the “ghost effect” voice tutorial I found last time, but it was a good starting point.  I tweaked it a little bit because I wanted more of the after echo effect than the full one.  Like it’s more that he has that underneath than over the top, and what’s nice is it’s something I can play around with depending on the circumstances.

I’m now working on the sound effects, which is always a fun challenge.  Often I can hear what I want in my head, but I don’t know how to describe it in words, or the words I’m using aren’t producing the results.  Most of the time Epidemic Sound has it, but I also use a site called Pond5.  I already have a subscription to the former whereas I have to pay by sound for the latter.  Pond5 can be a bit pricier, but they often have more of a variety, as well as some things ES doesn’t.

After the sound effects it’ll be onto the music!

In Progress

  • Game Reviews: Final Fantasy VI – I’m onto Kefka and the Empire in the Story Analysis.  That will wrap up the “character” portion then it’s onto the overarching game narrative.
  • Book Reviews: Unraveling Oliver by Liz Nugent – I’m struggling with this more than I expected.  I don’t know if it’s because I’ve been so fatigued lately or if it’s something else.  When I do an analysis I like to summarize the story, but I feel like I’m really hung on up there with this novel because it’s from so many different points of view and I’m not sure if I’ve tackled the task correctly.  I’ve been doing it in the order of the narrative where maybe I should just recount the events in chronological order.  Since analyses have a spoiler warning, I don’t have to follow the methodology of the book.  I don’t know; I’ll have to think about it when I have enough caffeine in my system.

Holy shit I completely forgot I should be working on an author page and only remembered when I re-read what I posted in the last SOTW update *smacks forehead*  I need to put this on my to do list so I’ll remember to work on it ugh.  Done.  Scheduled to work on every Monday and Friday.

Happy Easter to those who celebrate!

  2. Happy Easter! Our version of celebrating is just eating good food. We were talking about having a big dinner next year and actually having people over in the hopes that there isn’t still a virus raging.
I can’t wait to see your author page. 😀
