Title: They don’t make plus size space suits
Author: Ali Thompson
Date Added: May 16, 2019
Date Started: May 19, 2021
Date Finished: May 21, 2021
I think I wanted a little bit more from this as in more stories. It was very short, but a very exemplary first effort. I follow the author on Twitter. She’s not shy with her opinions, and I hope she writes more.
Title: The Survivors: A Novelette
Author: Nick Farmer
Date Added: April 26, 2017
Date Started: May 24, 2021
Date Finished: May 28, 2021
Another book where the ending takes me by surprise. That happens a lot with eBooks because I’m not always checking to see how much more I have left to read. I liked the idea behind this, but there was one major thing that really bothered me. It’s a trope that needs to die for a variety of reasons. It would be a spoiler to mention it now, so I’ll save that for the review.
Title: Black Helicopters
Series Title: Tinfoil Dossier
Author: Caitlín R. Kiernan
Date Added: April 19, 2021
Date Started: May 31, 2021
The second book in the series is just as good as the first, and I’m already seeing parallels between them.
Title: Psychology and Alchemy
Series: Jung’s Collected Works
Author: C. G. Jung
Date Added: July 20, 2019
Date Started: April 9, 2021
I am going to do what I thought about in prior weeks: switch between research materials. After I finish the introductory chapter to this, I think I’m going to read a chapter of Ireland’s Immortals, which I put on hold about a year ago then possibly start reading Maternal Horror, and then do kind of a round with stuff like this. I don’t know what the pattern or guidelines are going to be, but I don’t have to worry about “forgetting” things since I’m taking notes.
Title: The Oedipus Trilogy
Series: The Theban Plays
Date Added: July 25, 2020
Date Started: March 18, 2021
And the shoe has dropped…the horrible reveal has occurred. The one the entirety of the audience (and Teiresias) saw coming, but Oedipus didn’t…and now can’t since he’s literally blind. The irony of Oedipus blinding himself after the fact and Teiresias being blinded by the gods beforehand due to his foresight and the seer is the only person who knew the truth from the start.
Title: A Sky Beyond the Storm
Series: An Ember in the Ashes
Author: Sabaa Tahir
Date Added: November 1, 2020
Date Started: March 17, 2021
This is the one book I just keep neglecting. I’m going to try to read at least a chapter tonight.
I had to balance my finances today instead of my usual Tuesday since Monday was a holiday, meaning nothing from the weekend settled yet, so I wound up setting up the majority of this on Tuesday so it wouldn’t be such a chore to post today.
I think I mentioned I got my first covid (Pfizer) shot this past weekend. My second is on the 18th so I should be good by July. Hopefully the side effects won’t be too terrible, but still better than getting covid!
