A post updated every other Sunday discussing my current writing projects and any completed the prior two weeks.
Finished Projects: 0
Project: Story
Working Title: The High Archon
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Type: Original
Length: Novel
Current Word Count: 676
Prior Word Count: 676
Word Difference: 0
Status: Organization
Progress: Chapter 1
I did some serious brainstorming/notetaking over the past few days, fleshing out one of the side characters. Even if it doesn’t find its way into the story, I like to have a robust background for as many people as possible. I might work on more today, since I still have some creative juices left for it.
I was able to do some more organization, too. I need to work on my micro-outline for Chapter 1 and maybe even Chapter 2 since some things I had for the first chapter will go onto the next. I’m starting to plan that out, and I even have some “starts” that are more in the realm of Chapter 2.
My two week vacation starts this week and the goal is to draft Chapter 1. Since I won’t have to work during the day, I’m hoping I’ll be able use the time to finally get this story underway.
Project: Story Audio Recording
Title: Northern Lights
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Type: Fanfiction
Length: Novel
Fandom: Final Fantasy VII
Status: Editing
Progress: First edit of Chapter 3
Not only did this not happen at all these past two weeks it not happened things that did, and I’m aware that makes no sense. I need to get my shit together then attempt to continue.
Project: Story Audio Recording
Title: The Broken Rose
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Type: Fanfiction
Length: Novel
Fandom: Final Fantasy VII
Status: Editing
Progress: First edit of Chapter 3
I really think I am going to split this chapter into two, but I’ll solidify that decision after I finish the first edit.
In Progress
- Game Reviews: Final Fantasy VI – Chugging along with editing the Story Summary section.
- Book Reviews: The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August by Claire North – I’ve been considering not doing a Story Analysis section and just marking spoilers. I was able to fit what I wanted to say in the Review part, and I honestly prefer that. I only do a separate Analysis if I need to talk about the end or something equally spoilerific. I think I can review this with just spoiler tags, and I’m hoping I can finish it this week.
I usually try to figure out and schedule the projects I’m going to work on during my vacation, and yeah I totally haven’t done that lol. Well…that’s not true. I know I want to draft the first chapter of The High Archon, but I haven’t put anything on my to do list. I guess I could do that tonight if the caffeine kicks in.

If Northern Lights is any indication of The High Archon, I am interested!
I saw a funny meme the other day about the amount of lore in the story, versus the amount of lore the author has on hand to talk about it people are interested, versus the amount of lore stored in the author’s head… So I support all fleshing out because it’s nice to know I’m not the only one out here building a world even though I know most of the details won’t wind up anywhere in the actual story 🙂

Aw that means so much! It’s true, too. Especially if you’re a plotter. It doesn’t mean things can’t change, but I like having more background information than less because it really informs how I write a character. I can’t write about someone I don’t know and throw in subtleties/foreshadowing with them if I don’t know what their deal is.
