A weekly post updated every other Thursday detailing my current gaming projects. I have an account at Grouvee, which is a site you can use to keep track of your backlog, so please feel free to friend me there!
What I Demoed
- Picross S7 – I intend to buy this; it’s the next version of Picross, but I need to wait until I can purchase games on my 3DS again, which I’ll explain at the end.
What I Purchased
No purchases this time.
What I Finished
Nothing this time.
What I’m Playing
Title: Etrian Odyssey Nexus
Series: Etrian Odyssey
System: Nintendo 3DS
Date Started: December 25, 2021
I’ve put over 75 hours into this game so I’ve definitely gotten my money’s worth. I’m a little annoyed at myself because I went back to re-fight one of the first bosses in order to get his conditional drop, but I messed up by killing him too quickly. There’s an item you can use called Formaldehyde that will cause an enemy to drop all of their items regardless of the condition being met, but you have to use it the turn you kill them, which is a bit different from some of the other games where you just have to use it at any time during the battle. Next time I go back I’ll either try to fulfill the condition of having him completely bound or attempt the Formaldehyde option again.
What I Watched
- Olizandri
- Final Fantasy IV (3D) – Finished watching the LP of this. I really love how they updated the game. It made me like characters I’d hitherto didn’t, though I still think Edge is annoying AF lol. Apparently there’s a version of The After Years in the same style. I thought that only released in 2D, so I might have to check it out. Oliz says his next Final Fantasy will be VI, so I intend to watch that. I really hope he plays World of Final Fantasy one day. It would be fun to watch a let’s play of it.
So the saga of the SD cards continues. I was going to pop in the one for my 3DS at lunch but realized I’d be inserting the one for the Switch, which is too big at 128g according to the guidelines. No problem; I just opened the wrong one, but the “right” one or rather the one I bought needed to be a micro SD card like the one for the Switch. It’s way too big for my system so I had to buy yet another card today. I think the hubs can use the other one in his digital camera (like anyone uses those anymore…like anyone goes anywhere to take pictures anymore…), so it’ll be put to use, but I’m bummed because I’d like to buy Bravely Default with my gift card, but I can’t until my 3DS has space for it 😤

The husband and I are going to stream a play through of Metal Slug this week on his Twitch channel. First video game I have played in a minute! (The last being him forcing me to play Cuphead on stream. D: )

Cuphead is brutal. I’ve never played it, but I’ve heard stories. The soundtrack slaps though.

Rob can have Cuphead lol. We played Metal Slug 3. It was shorter than I expected but really fun. You can definitely tell it’s from the 80’s. One level there are suicide bombers that are clearly middle eastern.

Oh god some stuff is so cringe, but it’s what we were doing back then you know? It’s like each era goes through their “bad guys.” Anything set during WWII it’s the Nazis then you have communists during the 60s/70s, and well…now we’re back at Nazis *facepalm*

Haha, definitely.
My reaction though; “IS THAT A FUCKING SUICIDE BOMBER?!”
Rob lost it. Lmao.
