A biweekly post updated every other Wednesday detailing my current reading projects and what new titles I’ve added to my to-read list. Title links go to Goodreads, and if you have an account there feel free to friend me! I’d love to see what you’re reading and/or planning to read.

Books Finished: 1
Title: Six of Crows
Series: Six of Crows
Author: Leigh Bardugo
Date Added: February 19, 2016
Date Started: December 31, 2021
Date Finished: January 31, 2022
I wasn’t expecting it to end when it do, which was entirely due to the percentage being thrown off by the sample of the second book in the duology. I knew this was split into two parts, but I wasn’t sure how it was going to be delineated. I have Crooked Kingdom on hold, but I’m not sure where I am in line. I was going to add another library book to the rotation, but I think I want to finish The Vela first.
Books DNF: 1
Title: Coriolanus
Author: William Shakespeare
Date Added: March 6, 2018
Date Started: January 27, 2022
I got so bored so quickly lol. I wound up finding a (seemingly) decent synopsis. There are several movie versions, but I really wish I could find the one with Tom Hiddleston.
But apparently it was only streaming for a short period of time back when it came out, and you can’t find it anywhere. There are other options for watching, but I want my Tom (today is actually his birthday I’m not a creepy stalker I’M NOT) 😭😭😭
I decided to move onto The Comedy of Errors straightaway instead of going to the next book in the Classics rotation since I barely read any of Coriolanus at all.
Currently Reading
Title: The Comedy of Errors
Author: William Shakespeare
Date Added: March 6, 2018
Date Started: February 6, 2022
Too difficult to do reading progress on stories in a collection, so I’m not going to bother. I could already tell where the “Errors” and therefore “Comedy” would stem from in this story even without reading the synopsis. A bunch of people have the same damn name, and thus shenanigans are sure to ensue.
Title: The Vela
Series Title: The Vela
Authors: Yoon Ha Lee, Becky Chambers, Rivers Solomon, and SL Huang
Date Added: October 2, 2021
Date Started: December 21, 2021
Media: eBook/Kindle
Progress: 58%
I thought this was only going to be four “episodes” based on the four people authoring it, but apparently Season 1 consists of eight. It has an interesting mien. While there is an overarching narrative, the narrative feels more like a series of vignettes that pick up where Asala and Niko find themselves.
The big questions The Vela brings up are ones I’ve seen tackled before such as “Where does vengeance end?” but even more so the story delves into how all of us are born into a system we literally had no say nor control in making of, but some of us benefit from it while others suffer. Should the former then be made to pay for the latter when the reckoning is due? What if you knowingly did nothing to help alleviate the situation but just enjoyed the benefits? It’s not a simple question so you can’t offer a simple answer. It’s possible the fortunate ones didn’t think anything could be done to change things and/or they could be indoctrinated into such a regime (which isn’t an excuse). I lean towards not making people suffer, because I’m all about netting down the despair in the world (unless I’m in a particularly vengeful mood then all bets are off).
Title: Ireland’s Immortals: A History of the Gods of Irish Myth
Author: Mark Williams
Date Added: October 5, 2017
Date Started: December 15, 2021
I’m making nice progress each reading session and tend to finish a section each time. There are still around fifty pages left in Chapter 4, but slow progress is always better than none.
Title: A Sky Beyond the Storm
Series: An Ember in the Ashes
Author: Sabaa Tahir
Date Added: November 1, 2020
Date Started: March 17, 2021
I think I’m just going to buckle down this Saturday and finish this. I’m at the final showdown and just so close.
I lost my leading edge in the book challenge. I was one book ahead but now I’m on schedule. If I finish A Sky Beyond Storm and The Vela soon then I’ll be back up.

My reading is at a snail pace currently. Which is 100% okay because I don’t feel stressed about it and Harry Potter feels like coming home. 🙂

It’s always fun to read an old favorite; it’s like visiting old friends. I have some books I want to reread, but it’s like I have so many I need to read once, so I get stalled on that.

I pretty much never reread anything. This is only happening because it had legitimately been 15 years since I had read them the first. (Longer for the original 4.) Otherwise, I am the same way. I still have so many books to get to, I don’t have time to reread!

It’s like whenever I want to I realize I have over 1000 books on my TBR list and I’m like “dammit…”
