Title: A Sky Beyond the Storm
Series: An Ember in the Ashes
Author: Sabaa Tahir
Date Added: November 1, 2020
Date Started: March 17, 2021
Date Finished: February 18, 2022
After nearly a year I finally finished it, and just in time, too, since my next read arrived in the mail a few days ago lol. It’s not the book on my “to read next” list, but it’s Sarah J. Maas’ next release for her Crescent City Series so I can’t wait.
I wrote a lot of thoughts about this once it marinated, and I read some of the lower star comments, too. I agree with some of them, but my take is more nuanced. I’m not disappointed in the ending, which is very expected for a YA paranormal romance. Tahir retains thematic integrity throughout even if her set up might benefit from some tweaking.
I would love to see this as a series, which is something I’ve said from the get go.
Currently Reading
Title: Crooked Kingdom
Series: Six of Crows
Author: Leigh Bardugo
Date Added: January 31, 2022
Date Started: February 16, 2022
My timing was kind of bad with this. I put it on hold at the e-Library as soon as I finished the first one, but I borrowed another book since I didn’t know how long I’d have to wait. I never even started that other book when this one became available, and I’m just more invested in this right now, so that other book will probably expire before I get to read it, which is fine.
This picks up right where the prior one left off since it’s just the second half of the story, so shit is already going sideways.
Title: The Comedy of Errors
Author: William Shakespeare
Date Added: March 6, 2018
Date Started: February 6, 2022
Things have already gotten confusing for both the characters and me. I’m glad I’m taking notes lol.
Title: The Vela
Series Title: The Vela
Authors: Yoon Ha Lee, Becky Chambers, Rivers Solomon, and SL Huang
Date Added: October 2, 2021
Date Started: December 21, 2021
Media: eBook/Kindle
Progress: 79%
I love the ethical questions this story is presenting and I love how the people you think would fall on one side actually go to another. I haven’t read much of this since I started Crooked Kingdom, but I’m going to try to fit it in and hopefully finish before next update.
Title: Ireland’s Immortals: A History of the Gods of Irish Myth
Author: Mark Williams
Date Added: October 5, 2017
Date Started: December 15, 2021
Some days I read an entire section and take only a few notes; other days I read two pages and take a copious amount of notes. I get more out of it in the second instance.
I’m still on track in the book challenge. I may try to sneak in a graphic novel or two since I’ve been meaning to read Black Hammer for over a year now. I also want to buy the next My Little Pony/Transformers mashup, and I thought Saga was coming out soon? I keep getting updates for it, but it seems like it’s separate issues and not the full graphic novel idk.

Yeah, I think they’re just doing the single issues right now until they have enough to put into another trade paperback volume for Saga, so the wait continues, at least for me. I’m so excited to read the next volume though when that day comes! ❤
And yay, Crooked Kingdom! I hope you enjoy it. 😀

I think I was behind when the last “new” one came out so it was already in graphic novel format. I’m going to wait, too. It’s hard enough having that gut punch cliffhanger at the end of the full novel; I can’t take it at the end of something shorter D:
