The State of the Gamer: 2/24/22

A weekly post updated every other Thursday detailing my current gaming projects.  I have an account at Grouvee, which is a site you can use to keep track of your backlog, so please feel free to friend me there!

What I Demoed

  • Dynasty Warriors IX – Nope.  Not my type of game at all lol, aaaaand now I feel really foolish because I thought it was the same series as Miracle Warriors as played by HG, but it just seemed like a hack and slash type of game, which is not my bag.  I mixed up my “warriors.”

What I Purchased

  • Pendula Swing: The Complete Journey – $0.00 ($1.99)  @ Nintendo eShop
  • Four Last Things – $2.71 @ Steam

What I Finished

Nothing this time.

What I’m Playing

Title: Etrian Odyssey Nexus
Series: Etrian Odyssey
System: Nintendo 3DS

Cover of Etrian Odyssey NexusDate Started: December 25, 2021

I’m in the 9th labyrinth and the subclasses have opened up.  I may have made some errors in assigning them since I tried to give people ones with the same weapons as their main class.  I needn’t have bothered.  The subclass allows you to use the weapons of that class though not the equipment.  I figured that out when I tried to give the Farmer’s best armor to a Farmer subclass and it didn’t work.  Speaking of the Farmer subclass, I think that’s the one I have the most of because it has so many useful qualities.  I would up resting my War Magus to reset the Medic subclass so I could give him a more offensive sub.  Resting costs you two levels to allocate your skill points again, and it’s the only way to change your subclass.  I don’t think I have anyone under level 40 by this point though so it hardly matters.

What I Watched

  • Olizandri
    • Pokémon Legends: Arceus – This is fun to watch at the end of the day while I play some Picross S7.
  • CJUGames
    • The Evil Within – I’m still curious about what the hell is going on in this game, but I haven’t watched much of it these past two weeks.
    • Cryostasis – I’m really interesting in what’s going with this and how the two stories, the one you find about the fleeing people and the one you’re in on the ship, connect.
  • ChristopherOdd
    • The Hidden Deep – The ocean is terrifying.

I think I pre-ordered the Chrono Cross: Radical Dreamers port to the Switch this week, but it doesn’t come out until March or April.  I almost bought the Final Fantasy VI pixel remaster on Steam, though I wish it had been released on the Switch, and I got an email about Lost Sphear being on sale, but it’s only for the PS4 and not the Switch, which is annoying.  Speaking of Nintendo!  They’re stopping support of the 3DS and Wii systems next March, soooo are you gonna port all of these games to the Switch now Big N?  Or do you have another system coming out so the Switch will be your secondary one?  Obviously you can still purchase physical games, but the store is shutting down piecemeal all this year until it’s completely gone next.

There are a few games I’m looking forward to.  There’s another installment of Voice of Cards, but since I haven’t played the first one yet, I’m going to hold off.  Stranger in Paradise from Squeenix is dropping soon.  I don’t know how the gameplay for that works so I’m hoping for a demo.  There was another game I was interested in I think, but I can’t remember it now.
