Finally finished this, though to be fair I did take some breaks because the borrowed eBook was more engaging. It was often difficult to stay motivated with this novel, though I can’t say it was uninteresting. I liked the characters and their motivations were both logically and psychologically sounds. It’s also nice to see non-binary people getting some representation without it being a “thing.” All of the characters were morally grey even the ones with good intentions, and it was pretty realistic to what would happen in such a situation. If the richest/most powerful i.e. capitalists of today were available, you’re goddamn right they’d try to mine the sun without any care for how it would affect them or the rest of the galaxy. I saw Don’t Look Up. I’m obsessed with FFVII, and they all have the same motif. I mean fuck, we’re already doing it! Climate change is driven by the richest nations, but it mostly affects the poorest. Parts of the ending served to enrage me, but in a “good” way. It goes along with the theme of “deserving” that permeates the latter parts of the story.
I do credit the novel with introducing me to three other authors (I already have several Rivers Solomon works on my TBR list)., since it was a collaboration. There’s another in the series, but it looks like it’s only available on a particular website. Initially I only found the audio, but I believe there’s a way to get the text. It has four different authors, and the reviews aren’t great, but I still want to check it out.
Title: Crooked Kingdom

This may be the best book(s) I read this year. It will definitely be in the top five because holy god this novel. It was heartbreaking and hopeful at the same time, and that’s honestly the definitely of a perfect story for me.
Title: The Savage and the Swan
Author: Ella Fields

I’m not sure how I feel about this one. It’s decently written and has the potential to be compelling, but there’s a lot of stuff that’s really predictable. There’s at least one variable I can hope for, but I’m still set on the potential directions that can go, too.
Title: House of Sky and Breath
Series: Crescent City
Author: Sarah J. Maas

This is just as good as the first book with just as much intrigue, but I haven’t had the energy to read it as much as I’d like.
Title: The Comedy of Errors

I still struggle to keep everyone straight in this even with my notes lol.
Title: Ireland’s Immortals: A History of the Gods of Irish Myth

Not much else to say but I’m making progress. Oh! Almost forgot to mention this, but the Yeats purchase was directly due to this book. It was mentioned so I looked it up. Yeats is the author of one of my favorite poems “The Second Coming” as well as others like “Down by the Salley Gardens,” which I discovered through Laura Wright and made an Aeriseph video with. I need to read more of his repertoire of course. Maybe that will help not not constantly mixing him up with William Blake who’s another of my favorites.
I’m back to being one book behind. I should read a graphic novel this week to catch up, especially since I have one sitting right next to me. This is being posted a day behind of course. I was supposed to go to an appointment today so I made preparations for that last night, but then I got up and was too tired to go ugh. I rescheduled for next Friday so fingers crossed.
