Reorganizing & Worldbuilding

There’s been much worldbuilding in TSN land, and I’ve started migrating some of the information back to Scrivener now that it’s organized.  I’ve also decided to reorg some of my Scrivener templates because I love self-abuse.  I really wish I could figure out how to do things from the get-go, but unfortunately I’m more of a trial and error person, so I often don’t know what will work until I figure out what doesn’t, but by the time I do, I have a ton of information I then have to incorporate into the new way.  It’s frustrating but it is what it is.

Peeps…I may DNF this one and I feel really bad about that because I honestly like it, but I haven’t felt the motivation to play in weeks.  That failed persuasion really bothers me and even though my idea was to fight some mock battles with Erador (the character I have to convince), I’m just…not feeling it.  It doesn’t help that I can just watch Oliz’s LP of it and chill AND I have Voice of Cards to play as well (which has a DLC to play afterwards).  I haven’t taken the step yet with the LP (I’m currently embroiled in Trails of Cold Steel and Horizon Zero Dawn in that area), but it’s probably going to happen.  Also, who knows; maybe watching it will spur me to play again.

I haven’t even gotten out of the preface(s) yet and I have so many notes.  It’s just the authors talking about why they wrote the book, why it’s still valid, and what still needs to be done, and I already have enough for a multitude of essays.

I didn’t update the story collage yet as I mentioned in the last update, but I did want to start using different pictures to reflect what I’ve been working on, and oh boy, have I been working on laying the foundation.  The above picture perfectly encapsulates the Sky World, which, along with its inhabitants, I’ve been furiously working on fleshing out.

I usually try to keep this stuff vague because there are so many details involved, but if people want me to make posts about specific details in my WIP I can find a way to do that.  All I need is the go ahead to talk about my writing and I’ll never shut the fuck up lol.

I failed another persuasion, but I was smart enough to save beforehand and not save over.  However, I keep failing at it probably because I don’t have enough affinity with the character I need to convince.  This one has three possible outcomes, but the one they keep going with is the most ridiculous fucking thing ever.  The one I want to do makes sense in the long game whereas the one they want to go with only works in the short term.  I’m not trying to make the people hate me.  I looked up that bringing people along into battles will increase your affinity with them so I’m going to try some mock battles with them to see if I can sway them to my side.  If all else fails I’ll go with the second best plan, which I still think is absolutely ridiculous, but doesn’t have as much fallout as the other.

The exposition became too much, especially since the author spends far too much time giving background on side characters, and it throws off the pacing immensely.  What books like this do is teach me what to look out for in my own writing because I tend to be overly descriptive, but I try to not bombard people with too much information about characters who don’t matter.  There’s a scene where someone walks into a store, and there are paragraphs about this woman.  All I could think was “Why do I care?”  Even if it’s going to be pertinent later, info dumping like that is going to be too much for someone to keep track of.

I decided I wanted to use Scrivener only for fully fleshed out ideas, so I removed a lot of things from there to put on OneNote while I figure them out.  OneNote is more for brainstorming/stream-of-consciousness and the step before I put it on Scrivener.
