Title: The Death of Jane Lawrence
Author: Caitlin Starling
Date Added: July 25, 2021
Date Started: April 7, 2022
I really thought I could finish this before it was due again, but one, I overestimated my reading prowess; and two, I forgot it was due over a weekend. Oops. I’m like 4th on the list on hold, so I put it, er, on hold myself. One good thing about borrowing eBooks is it saves your place.
Books Reading: 7
Title: Ecofeminism
Series Title: Critique Influence Change
Authors: Maria Mies & Vandana Shiva
Date Added: July 13, 2020
Date Started: May 3, 2022
Finally reached the point where I can put percentages. Both prefaces were elucidating. Now I’m in the introduction where Mies and Shiva talk about why they decided to write this together, and when you hear their credentials it makes sense. Shiva is a theoretical physicist from the ecology movement, and Mies is social scientist from the feminist movement. It’s like they were destined to get together.
Title: Belly of the Beast: The Politics of Anti-Fatness as Anti-Blackness
Author: Da’Shaun Harrison
Date Added: February 11, 2022
Date Started: May 2, 2022
Oof, if this book could stop calling me out that would be nice. Rude.
Title: Black Hammer, Vol: 4: Age of Doom, Part Two
Series: Black Hammer
Author: Jeff Lemire
Illustrators: Dean Ormston, Rich Tommaso et al
Date Added: May 2, 2019
Date Started: May 1, 2022
One of the characters makes a really good point about questioning the “real” timeline. I guess there maybe is a “real” reality, but who is to say what reality really is especially in a narrative such as this.
Title: The King in Yellow
Author: Robert W. Chambers
Date Added: August 4, 2019
Date Restarted: April 17, 2022
Media: eBook/Kindle
Progress: 29%
I made the observation that every story read so far either takes place in France or references France in some way, and I wondered about the author’s origin. He is American, but he studied in Paris and must’ve been very influenced by the City of Light.
Title: Parasite Eve
Author: Hideaki Sena
Translator: Tyran Grillo
Date Added: June 8, 2017
Date Started: April 14, 2022
Media: eBook/Kindle
Progress: 66%
Things are getting really real now, though there’s still an integral question that hasn’t been answered.
Title: House of Sky and Breath
Series: Crescent City
Author: Sarah J. Maas
Date Added: March 7, 2021
Date Started: February 23, 2022
Media: Physical/Hardback
Progress: 27%
I am so emotionally invested in these characters like it hurts. I can only read so much in one day because it takes so much emo energy to be involved.
My Amazon Kindle up and died on me yesterday while I was watching it. I’m pretty sure the battery is dead dead like to the point where it won’t charge anymore. I had it plugged in when it died, which lends credence to this theory. I was going to just buy another Kindle, but I really don’t feel like dropping $120-$150 right now, which is how much one would cost. What gets me is I remember it being around $80 last time I bought one, but maybe it’s because I’d want a newer model. I found a replacement battery, but it won’t be here until next week. Amazon is a bit close fisted on those, since of course Bozo wants you buy a new device not repair your old one, but I don’t want to have to set up a new Kindle and add all my information again. I just want my old one to work. Hopefully, the new battery will sort this issue out. I found a few videos on how to replace it, and the battery is huge. Like a big portion of the device is the battery. I guess they figure if they have that big of a screen they don’t have make the battery small. Fingers crossed!

I think I bought my Kindle Fire HD 7″ for $50??! That’s crazy. (I now have a 10″ because the husband bought it for me a couple of Christmases ago.)

My hubs pointed out that prices have been going up like crazy and I went “Ahhhh yeah I forgot.” I’m hoping I can fix the issue when I get the battery until then I’ve been using my laptop as my viewing device :p

I spent around $200 in groceries yesterday and I think I got a week’s worth of food. D:

I feel this. I now budget $150 for groceries weekly. I’m sure we spend more because we have the cats to take care of, too, and he orders a lot of their stuff from Chewy.

I’ve started rotating between places shopping. This place has good meat at good prices. This place has better produce. This place has good bulk goods and prices. It’s crazy now.

Omg I remember us doing that at one point years ago! We’d go to one market for meat and another for produce. Honestly with how bad gas prices are you might end up spending the money just to GET there.

Mary Magdalene what now?? I’m interested! haha
On the topic of the Kindle situation, something like that happened to me. I have a 3rd generation Kindle and I had to replace the battery a few years ago because it stopped holding a charge. Luckily I found one, and it’s been working so far, but what a hassle…. Good luck with your repair, and it if doesn’t work the way you’re hoping, may there be a great sale in your future.

Lol, just more of the 50 babillion books I need to read for my research :p
It was SO weird. I was literally in the middle of a video, the Kindle was plugged in to my computer and it just turned off. I had been charging it on my PC instead of the outlet because it was just easier. I did notice it would charge slower, and I wonder if that was just draining the batter. I’m hoping getting a new one fixes it. If not, I see a newer Kindle in my future XD
