A post updated every other Sunday discussing my current writing projects and any completed the prior two weeks.
Finished Projects: 2
- Game Review: Final Fantasy VI – 10/14/22
- Book Review: Eating Robots: And Other Stories by Stephen Oram – 10/15/22
Project: Story/Series
Working Title: The High Archon (The Truth Seeker Chronicles)
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Type: Original
Length: Novel
Current Word Count: 11,282
Status: Reorganizing & Worldbuilding
Progress: Working on language details
The last few weeks have been spent figuring out surname naming conventions for different groups with regards to marriage. Since I work better when I have examples to use, I had to make up last names for said groups, and those last names had to make sense in terms of the groups’ cultures/background. I do like that in working on one worldbuilding aspect, I can solidify others.
So that’s what the ring image is about. One of the groups, the Rava, have surnames based on precious stones and metals if they’re upper class. I haven’t quite worked out the details, and I’m still figuring out some language things, but I’m making progress. The ring above looks like it’s a jade stone, and the word for jade in Rava is javrais (juh-VRAY) so a bit of French inspired pronunciation, though I may change the spelling if necessary to fit in with whatever rules I make up lol.
Project: Story Audio Recording
Title: Northern Lights
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Type: Fanfiction
Length: Novel
Fandom: Final Fantasy VII
Status: Editing
Progress: Adding in sound effects
It was quite silly to think I’d be able to finish Chapter 2 in just two weeks, but I did make some progress. Not a lot, but something is better than nothing. If I wind up working on this in the next two weeks, I’ll keep it in active projects, but if I don’t it’ll be put on hold until I get back to it. It’s funny that the first chapter took so long to record whereas this one was recorded fairly quickly, but the editing is taking forever. I’m really happy I’m not going to spend as much time on the visuals, otherwise it would probably take another two years lol.
Project: Research & Essay Organization
Status: Organizing Reference Material
Progress: Moving pertinent notes into Essay and Research Notebook on OneNote
I’m still going through each essay and moving what notes I need to into the Essay and Research Notebook. I got a little hung up because some of the resources are also things I plan to write reviews for, so that puts them in another OneNote Notebook. I don’t want two copies because if I add notes to one it won’t translate to another, but alternatively I don’t know if I want to move it out of the To Review section. It’s a conundrum I haven’t quite found a solution to. If I could have both copies still “attached” so updating one would update the other that would be fabulous, but I don’t know if that’s possible.
Project: Author Website
Name: Adrienne’s Authorly Adventures
Status: Active
Progress: Updating
I barely even look at this page now lol. I’m still glad I made it. I’ll probably stop including it in this update unless something changes.
In Progress
- Game Reviews: My Brother Rabbit – This won’t take nearly as long as the FFVI review. It’s a much shorter and less complicated game, so I should definitely have it out before next update.
On Hold
- Book Review: Alex + Ada: The Complete Collection by Jonathan Luna and Sarah Vaughn – I need to reread this before I can adequately review it. I don’t think I was as good at taking notes back then when I read it as I am now, or it’s just been so long since I did I’ve forgotten things 🤷🏾♀️ It might be a while before I get a chance to reread it, and I’m honestly now just going to skip over reviews that I’m not feeling in the moment. I have so many to do anyway lol.
After nearly three years, I finally finished my Final Fantasy VI review, and I know it’s three years because I noted the date I DNF’d it as 10/12/19. Next up should be FFVII, but since the remastered Crisis Core is coming out in December, I’m probably going to play that first, which makes chronological sense lol. I know I’m not going to finish FFVII in two months when I wasn’t even halfway through FFVI in four. I’ve already played the remastered FFVIII so after I do VII’s review I can just move on to that, and in the meantime right now, I can work on some of my smaller reviews and maybe some of the longer, essay-like ones.
I don’t think I’m going to take my typical November hiatus since I’m not doing NaNoWriMo in any capacity this year, and I’ll still be worldbuilding. There may also be some spotty updating towards year end due to some potentially exciting developments that I’ll elucidate more on if/when they occur 😉
