More catch up. Apparently I have a lot of Sunshine Blogger Awards to catch up on. A Geeky Gal is lovely. So much gaming and cosplay. All of the stuff I love ♥
1. What game are you currently playing?
I’m still in the midst of Final Fantasy VII Remake, which is of course amazing btw. Even though I’ve technically finished it, as in finished all of the chapters, I still have a lot of side stuff to complete before the next part comes out, since I know there will be some way to transfer your data from the first game to the second (think Mass Effect), and I want to have everything I possibly can.
I started this game called Golf Story, but I’m not sure how I feel about it yet. It’s not really pulling me in. It’s a sports RPG about (shock) golf. I’m going to give it some more time, but I haven’t picked it up in a few days.
Finally I’m playing this awesome puzzle game called The House of da Vinci II. If you like The Room (the puzzle game not the god awful movie lol), I’d highly recommend this and the first one. So. Good.

What I Obtained
- Final Fantasy VII Remake – $59.99 @ Amazon (I’m still waiting for it to arrive in the mail, but Amazon assures me it’ll be here today. I won’t receive the copy from Squeenix until Tuesday…which would be ridiculous if we weren’t in the middle of a pandemic. I’ll give the big S a pass)
What I’m Playing
Title: Final Fantasy VIII (Remastered)
Series Title: Final Fantasy
System: Nintendo Switch
Date Started: 3/31/20
Watching Olizandri do his play through made the itch too strong. I’d been thinking about replaying this, but wanted to stick to my order. Then I considered I’d be playing the FFVII Remake before I replayed the original, and I hatched another plan: play the Remake then replay the original, while at the same time playing this and writing the review/analysis for FFVI. It’s Final Fantasy all the time here in the house of TSN, but who’s surprised by that?
I receive a whole hell of lot of these for someone who hates sunlight :p
This time I was nominated by Extra Life Reviews who does just that. He gives out extra lives and reviews. Wait…maybe it’s just that his reviews give extra life to all those who read them. You won’t know which one it is unless you check his blog out, now will you? I always appreciate every nomination I receive, and I can only apologize for how long it’s taken me to get to this one. So without further ado, here are the questions I was asked to answer.
1. In which cases would you deem the manga superior to the anime on which it’s based?
Hm, I’ve fallen quite far behind in my anime viewing, not for lack of desire, just lack of time. It’s been a while since I’ve watched any, and lining up something that I’ve both watched the anime of and read the manga is a bit difficult. I’ll say that the Chobits manga was more detailed than I remember the anime being (though I watched it a long time ago), although there were things in both media representations that were way ickier to my more 2019 sensibilities.
I was going to do something different this week, a response post for an article that was tweeted to me about the FFVII Remake, but alas, I spent a good portion of the evening working on a book review, and there are other things I’d like to get to tonight. So you’ll have to only dream and anticipate TSN’s soon to come ranty wrath, but until then in the spirit of the subject…
Which Final Fantasy do you want Squeenix to remake next?
This question of course came up when the Final Fantasy VII Remake was announced with many of VI’s fans feeling left out again. One of my fellow IRL Final Fantasy fanatic friends shed some appropriate and manly tears when I even suggested the idea of of an FFVI remake.
To be honest, I’m torn between VI and IV. I think I’m going to go with Final Fantasy VI, though, because as much as I’d love to see this in HD throughout…
…I think a remake of VI would make people the happiest, since of all the JRPGs it’s considered the JRPGiest. Plus it’s a beloved favorite and considered the best by many fans. I think this world could use a bit more happiness.
What Final Fantasy do you want to see remade next or, to expand it, what game would you love to see remade with today’s graphics?

If I had the time and PS4 usage, I’d start Type-0. I used to make my definite gaming day Wednesdays when my husband went bowling, but it’s the off season for that, so I don’t really have a designated gaming night. So as it is, I’m still playing this, but not religiously. It’s more I’ll boot it up on my Kindle if I have some time before bed.

I think I’m almost at the end of this. I really hope they keep making games. The execution is brilliant.
*******This is a post full of feels. If you do not want to read about my feels, abandon this post. So many feels.*******
I am 17 again. I am broken but I believe I am used to it. Years ago I played Final Fantasy VI and at the ending was so happy I smiled for days. It was full of hope and joy and the promise that all wounds could be healed. I no longer carry this delusion.
By now anyone remotely involved in the video game world who isn’t living under a rock has heard about this.
I’ve thought heavily about what I want to say, which is why it’s taken so long for me to articulate a response. It should be obvious to even the most casual observer that FFVII means a great to me. I could not explain it if I had all the words in a thousand tongues. I’ve devoted a huge amount of my time to both writing and posting a fanfiction of it, a story that itself was more than ten years in the making, and everything I have ever written hence has been inspired by the game’s epic tale.
