Progress: Third edit of Chapter 21

I think this third edit might be my last.  I’ve been getting more comments/kudos on AO3, probably because more stuff has come out about the Remake.  I notice an uptick in interactions whenever that occurs, which is pretty cool.  What I find interesting is I think Northern Lights is the more superior story, but this one gets more interaction.  Maybe because it’s still ongoing.  I hope with the audio of NL I’ll get more interactions with that, but I’ll discuss that below.  Speaking of audio, this came out this week, and I can’t stop listening to it.

Progress: Second edit of Chapter 21

I spent about an hour on Friday going over one paragraph, trying to figure out how to make it work, finally consigning it to my next editing session.  Then when I went back to it yesterday, for the life of me, I couldn’t figure out why the hell I didn’t just delete certain shit, and this is why it’s often prudent just to step away for a little while and come back with a fresh mind.  My problem is I hate unfinished business, and I hate leaving issues if I know they’re there, so it’s a tug-of-war between these two ideals.  This chapter will need a third edit, which isn’t surprising in the least.

Progress: First edit of Chapter 21

I may just finish the first edit this week.  Usually when the first edit takes a while, the second one is easier…usually.  If I add a lot I still have to smooth that out with the next edit.  If I get it posted by the end of the month, I’ll be happy.

Progress: First edit of Chapter 21

Because of extenuating circumstances (which I’ll detail in a bit), I haven’t gotten much editing done on Chapter 21.  I have started it, though, and cataloged what I need to add/work on.  I’m hoping to play catch today after some major setbacks over the weekend and be back on schedule with everything soon.

Sephiroth staring forward with an almost expressionless look on his face even though his lips are curled slightly up. His slit pupils are clearly visible, as well as the upturned color of his black, leather coat. Silver hair frames his face surrounded by embers and the suggestion of flames. In the top left corner are the words "Chapter 20 Mercy."I went through the gambit of pictures before settling on this one alone.  If I were better at image manipulation, I would’ve done a layered one with Aeris looking at him, but I decided to scrap that due to lack of skill.  I absolutely adore this picture though; I’ve used it quite a few times in my slideshows, and it resonated with me for this particular chapter, which has been building since the very beginning.  My readers are quite bloodthirsty, too…I’ve already received some accolades for this selection.

What I’m Playing

Title: Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millennium Girl
Series Title: Etrian Odyssey
System: Nintendo 3DS

Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millennium GirlDate Started: 6/30/19

This game is much harder than the RPGs I’m used to (i.e. Final Fantasy, well after IV at least).  By the time I was at the same level there (60 or so) I was wrecking everything pretty easily and at least not needing to heal every battle, but Etrian Odyssey really makes you employ strategy.  I’m still getting one shotted by some enemies, especially since I changed my main character’s class from the original Highlander to Landschnecht (sword and axe user).  Doing so throws their level back down to 30, BUT you get the difference in skill points.  It lowered his HP though so a hard smack will knock him out.  I also rested my Protector, which makes you go down two levels, BUT you get all of your skill points back to redistribute.  I realized I could put more towards party defense so I can better shield every one.  I’m still struggling with two quest bosses, so I need to level up some more before I can take them on (they’re worth 50k ental, the game’s currency, a piece).  I believe I’m near the end of the main game, though, since I’m on stratum five out of six in Yggdrasil and there’s only one more floor of the Gladsheim facility.  I may replay it in Classic mode as opposed to Story, which lets you choose your classes like prior EO games.  My characters are in utter beast mode in Etrian Odyssey V.
